Not the best in Artesia by far but not quite the worst. Keep looking.
This will be a very honest review. I have spoken with many residents of Eagle Creek Apartments and most of them are disappointed with the level of enthusiasm and dedication that the current manager shows to them and her job. She only visits from out of town once or twice weekly. Employees drive over from Roswell, about 40 miles away, on days when they come that is. There is no longer a manager or maintenance person living on the property to provide security and oversee what happens at the... complex since the new owner took over the property around 2.5 years ago and almost immediately fired the on-site manager. He was one person doing the work of at least three and was highly dedicated to his job and residents. When he left, he took the furnishings for the clubhouse which belonged to him and despite management promising residents that the clubhouse would be re-furnished, it is still barren with only one small table and a cheap chair or two and the door is locked most of the time anyway. Eagle Creek Apartments was a much nicer, more enjoyable and safe place to live before current management took over. Now, the Artesia Police are much more frequent visitors. The once-beautiful complex used to be for seniors and the disabled but the current management rents to all ages now. A lot of the tenants who had been here for years have moved out. The current manager seems to have her favorites which may explain the other rating of 4 stars. That rating/review isn't current. You can trust this review. Come around some weekend and take a good look around. Walk the sidewalks. Check out the always-filthy laundry room adjacent to the office. Talk to people on the property. It isn't a crime and you may save yourself from getting into a lease that you are sorry you got into. Pay a visit to the Artesia Police Department and obtain stats regarding dispatches to the property. Do your research and I am sure that you will go elsewhere. By the way, there are no balconies at Eagle Creek Apartments, as listed. There are tiny slabs of concrete at each back door which could be considered a patio, if you have a vivid imagination.
