It's a Dump!

No management team. They keep quitting. No pool. No BBQ. No custodial service. Trash shoot always stopped up. Trash all over property. Inside and out. People constantly stuck in elevator. Fire department always here!

Property Manager at The Highland Midtown responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so sorry to hear that you're feeling so frustrated with The Highland Midtown, as we are always striving to provide an elevated living experience. That said, you are correct that... we've struggled to maintain a strong team, though I am encouraged to confirm that we have a new Community Manager, who started just this week. Please feel free to stop in and say hello to Kaitlyn!

Suffering! It’s hotter than Arizona in August.

We’ve been a full week without a air conditioning. We’ve been over a week before without hot water. The pool is never open. The heat brought bugs. Roaches too be specific. There’s never any heads up, notification or any compensation off your rent or utilities. What did I ever do in life too deserve this kind of treatment????

Stay far away

I've lived at the Highland Midtown for 3 years now and can't wait until my lease is up to leave. Maintenance is non-existent and emergency maintenance never calls or comes to fix the problem. The office is always closed and the management is one of the worst I've ever experienced. You don't control your own AC/heat so you're at the whim of management. I've had to leave messages for "emergency" maintenance to fix a flooding bathroom over 10 times, but still no response and this was on a Sunday... afternoon. There have been several instances of no hot water and management never calls plumbing if it happens on the weekend, because they don't want to pay extra. Expect to be taking cold showers for a week at least. The smell of marijuana and cigarettes permeate the air in both the lobby and your respective apartment, and nothing is done about it despite a clear clause in the lease stating no drugs or smoking. Management has changed several times and each one is worse that the last. Stay far away from this apartment. Any new tenant bonus is not worth the headache of having to move again or fight with the office about things that shouldn't be a problem in the first place.

Awful

I won't bore you with the laundry list of issues here, just the highlights. I have lived at Highland Midtown for 5 years. The first couple of years were pleasant enough. I never had any major issues with the staff or my neighbors. For the past few months my neighbor plays loud music all times of the night and day. Literally, she plays her stereo loud from about 7p to 3a. I have complained to the management, left voicemails for the so-called courtesy officer, who is never on or near the premises... at night because he has another job and basically just returns calls to tell you he can't do anything about it. The manager, Nikita, says it's basically my word against my neighbors (and clearly my neighbor isn't telling the truth as I have had to start recording the noise disruption... I mean really). Anyway, the management won't do anything to stop the noise and the walls are pretty much paper thin. The other issue with this place that should deter you from renting here is that this is a very old building (I think it was built in the 1940's) so it doesn't have air-conditioning or heat year round. It's a centralized system in the basement. So, when it gets to Spring and Fall you pretty much swelter inside because it's about 5 to 10 degrees hotter inside than out. And, rarely do you get a breeze with the windows open (there is no cross breeze). So, if you want to spend 4-6 months with days of extreme humidity in your apartment, then this is the place for you! If not, go somewhere else where you can pay a similar rent for access to heat/air all year round because we know how Arkansas weather is. Finally, the security is pretty poor. They have a FOB access to the front door, but basically everyone lets anyone in whether they know them or not. So much for security, right?! Sorry for the long vent post, but if you're looking for someplace to live, I would leave this place off the list and find a community that really cares about their tenants.

Old

Went for a tour and their renovations are just paint over old walls. You can tell they do not care about the upkeep of the building.
