My frat days are behind me. If I want to party, I go to a bar. When I come home, I need to sleep. Monterey Apartments has everything I need: location, covered parking, a hot tub, and quiet neighbors. This property was a great find. I used to live in Mesa and the commute was horrible. Now I live 2 minutes from the 101 and 2 minutes from the 202. Living in South Scottsdale has trimmed 40 minutes from my morning commute! I enjoy the hot tub in the evening. I also belong to 24 hr Fitness... which is about a mile away. There is a manager living on property. I haven't had anything break down, but if I did I would only have to knock on his door. I have never seen the cops at this property. Sometimes I feel like I am living in Mayberry! I guess my frat days are behind me...

Best Small-Town Community in Scottsdale
I have lived at Monterey Apartments for six years. As a single woman, I toured most of the apartment communities in south Scottsdale looking for a new home. I did not feel safe or secure at any of the properties I visited. I was truly giving up hope. Then God brought me to Monterey Apartments. I found the most private, safe and friendly rental home I had ever lived in. I was amazed at how well built the units were. The buildings are sprinklered! The smoke detectors are hard wired, not... the battery kind that can be easily dismantled. Both of these items reduced my rental insurance. The closets are large. We have windows on three sides of the apartment. The on-site manager works hard to keep our homes a safe and comfortable place to live. With only 40 units, we know our neighbors. We are family. The children are all my grandchildren. When someone is sick, food often arrives at the door. The landscaping is well maintained. There are shade trees and green grass at this property! What a blessing! This is a quiet, homey, peaceful place to live. Monterey Apartments is my own little oasis in the desert. I am very fortunate to live here.

Older, well maintained apartments in a good location
I've been here for about 2 months now and I can say that I"m happy with my decision to move into the Monterey Apartments. The units themselves are rather old and you can tell that much of the maintenance work is done by the manager/owner of the apartments himself.
Off color paint can be seen in areas and many of the fixes around the apartment are amateur repairs, but decently done nonetheless. The units are nice and the 1 bedroom I'm in is 650 sq. feet which is nice and big for the price of... $625 a month. A really good deal. The location is really nice with Fry's and Lowes nearby along with easy and quick access to the 101.
While he does many of the maintenance work himself, the manager is very responsive to work requests. I've put in a couple so far and he was on top of it in a couple of days. Even ordering new blinds to replace the complete set because one fell off. He is nice guy who cares about this apartment community.
The pool and spa is well kept. While I'd like the open hours to be longer, they are only open from 9am to 9pm, they are very well maintained. I love the fact that there is a spa! It's really relaxing to come home to. There is no gym on site, but that's ok for me as I use a resistance bike and each unit has a nice sized patio, which is where I keep mine. The community here is peaceful and there are not many noisy distractions.
Overall, the Montery Apartments were a great find. Good value, decent apartments, and helpful management go a long way.
