We've called this place home for over 10 years...

When we first moved into Sunset Ridge Apartments it was a one bedroom apartment which was upstairs and we loved it for the exercise it gave us and our two dogs. We liked the fact that it was a gated community and did our part to make sure the gates stayed closed since there were some residents who chose to force the gates to stay open so visitors could come and go. It's a pleasant, family and pet-friendly community. The manager looks out for her residents and gives us notice when something is... going to be done on the property that could cause damage to our vehicles or is going to result in our water having to be off for a certain amount of time. I have to commend the maintenance here because he is here to fix something as quickly as he can and he'll keep at it until the problem is fixed. Even the manager will come check out the situation to see if it's something that needs to be dealt with sooner than later. Now for the review I read below about the cars on the street outside the complex yes that does occur but it's a public street they can't control that nor can they control how loud someone plays their music or what they smoke. Once you're outside the gates of the property on the street it's the city of Sacramento's problem. I do know that both the manager and maintenance go around daily cleaning up the property as well as the dumpster area when residents aren't able to pick up after themselves. This makes me very angry because this is our home and we should be able to keep it looking clean. They even put up posts with bags to pick up after our pets but there are still irresponsible people who are aren't willing to go that far. So when I see a review like the one below it gets my dander up because of all the apartment complexes I've visited to see family or friends this is the best kept and managed one I've been too. We downsized from a house to an apartment and are now in a 2 bedroom and we stayed at Sunset Ridge because it's home and we wouldn't have stayed if we couldn't call it home or trust those who are responsible for it.

Beware of this place

This place is not what it seems to be when you first move in here. The management paints a pretty picture at first but when you stay here for a few months to a couple of years, you feel trapped!!! The apartment was presented clean and full of plug ins. When I moved into the apartment I noticed a lot of bad repairs and minor leaks from the toilets and a/c. The maintenance guy has no knowledge of repairing anything. You kind of have to take the repairs into your on hands which is a huge... inconvenience. The apartment complex is under constant construction which can be frustrating because management is always posting notes on your door about it, or even having the audacity to tell you to remove your vehicle from your parking spot. The environment looks somewhat clean but a lot of cars that do not reside will park along side of the apartment to blast music, hangout, liter, and smoke drugs! I have personally witnessed prostitution at the corner of this apartment complex along with drug dealing. I've had to notify the police a lot! Most of the neighbors that live in the complex are always lurking and trying to be nosey all the time. Your cars is not safe in this complex even though they claim it is a gated community, all of the gated doors are broken which allows other people to come and go as they please. My car was broken into and management did nothing! If you have a pet you should be careful when taking your pet for a walk as there are other animals in the community and dangerous to walk on the outside with looters constantly hanging around. Management kept raising the rent when the lease would be up and I am glad I got out of there even though it was difficult to find another apartment. It was a terrible experience indeed! Beware of this place. Read less

Sunset Ridge

The only negative thing I have to say is that I know several people who complained about their cars being broken into and being stolen. My brother even had his window busted out, BUT that could happen anywhere. I put my own alarm system on, so I would suggest anyone to do that these days because there are so many break ins everywhere. The positives is that the manager is super nice and caring. When I found a bug in my apartment, I called her that day and she sent the pest guy right up, she does... play around (found out that there was only one that somehow got in). It is pretty quiet and most of the neighbors are nice. It comes with a washer and dryer and it is on the porch, which is super nice. Any issues we have had, we inform the manager and she is on it right away.

Would you like your Car stolen?

I moved in with my three roommates in early December of 2014. It was fine until a few months in when we started to get an idea of how bad the area was. One of my roommates got his car stolen out of the lot even though it was a gated community. A few months later one of our friends was staying the night and their car tires were slashed. We have asked repeatedly to have cameras installed or to have someone patrol the grounds but it fell on deaf ears. Our landlord even lives onsite and she wouldn't... budge on the matter. Other tenants have apparently had their cars broken into as well. The apartment itself is in great shape but the exterior is under constant repair and the construction starts at dawn, so we all get woken up at crude hours. The complex is right next to an elementary school, so sometimes you'll get woken up by the morning announcement, and kids scream all day long. Rent is fair. Beware.

Comfortable and Convenient

Sunset Ridge is a small (about 90 units) complex where residents either know or recognize each other. A gated community, it provides personal and vehicle security which is enhanced by the vigilance of management and staff. Each unit has its own washer and dryer. Pool hours are assigned separately to children, families, and adults; and the pool closes at a reasonable hour to allow for quiet hours. Landscaping is well maintained. Management promptly addresses unit maintenance needs. The... location is convenient to services, grocery, and department stores, as well as to public transportation. Having lived here for seven years, I can say this is a comfortable and convenient community in which to reside.
