Noisy

The paper-thin walls in this overpriced apartment make it impossible to enjoy any peace and quiet. Constant noise from neighbors ruins the living experience, despite the hefty rent. With numerous better-value options in the area, I can't recommend this place to anyone seeking a comfortable home.

Property Manager at Seabrook at Bear Brand responded to this review

Hello! We want to thank you for taking the time to give feedback about your recent experience. We are truly disappointed we did not meet your expectations. While some noise is a part of multi family living, excessive noise, or noise during the city... quiet hours is not permitted if this is what you are experiencing, we always want to make sure action is taken and highly encourage you to reach out to both us at the leasing office and local law enforcement. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you further so we can improve what we can on our side and work with law enforcement to get this resolve for you. Hoping to hear from you soon, Team Seabrook

Somewhat enjoyable

We had an ok time here at the seabrook. obviously living close to the beach has alway been a dream of ours and we were able to accomplish that! now other than dana point being awesome. our apartment was pretty nice and good community. what we did not like was the rent was pretty high for what you get. If you had something wrong they were pretty good at fixing it.

Best Home Ever

Resident of Seabrook for 20 years....

Best Home Ever. The best description I can say about living at Seabrook. My son and I lived at Seabrook in Dana Point for 20 years (1995-2015). And if I could make it longer, I would. The leasing crew and manager are very professional and supportive in any of the needs we had over the years. Most people know what is it like to live in apartments: Noisy neighbors, broken appliances, sometimes rude owners or leasing agents, bad parking. None of that here. If...
we had problems with neighbors, the leasing staff moved quickly on it. The maintenance staff is very friendly, helpful and fast when there are problems with appliances or plumbing. And recently they re-piped every building so the plumbing is great. A new clubhouse was built in 2014-2015 and the pool and amenities are wonderful. Every place has some issues and yes I've had to call them on it. But when I did I never felt ignored and the issues I had were addressed.

If you want a good, safe home to live in, I wholeheartedly recommend Seabrook. Even though we no longer live there, my son and I will always think of it as home.

Room for Improvement

To be fair, the office and maintenance staff at Seabrook are very responsive and friendly. Whenever I had a maintenance request, it was always handled within the promised 48 hour window, and the staff was great about following up to ensure everything was completed. The community is overall quiet and feels very safe, I never had any security concerns. It also gets points for the spacious layouts of the townhome units and direct-access garages- a big plus in a multifamily complex.

However,...
there is a lot to be desired, especially given the cost and rent increases you can expect at Seabrook. I will confirm a point brought up in other online reviews that the average rent increase is around $150, a considerable amount given the fact that for the entire time I’ve lived in the complex, there has been ongoing major construction that has left the community without a clubhouse, gym, and only one small pool. I was told the construction would be completed in February, it's now almost October. During that time, there has been constant noise, dust, and traffic congestion that detracts from the peace and quiet that initially attracted me to the area. While the new facilities are set to be completed soon, many of the units still have aging kitchens and bathrooms, old carpet, and lack air conditioning. Don’t let anyone fool you, you will be hot and uncomfortable in summer months, even with open windows and fans. They will also be re-piping all of the units over the course of the next year, so you could be in for a big mess and inconvenience if you move into a unit that has old pipes.

Another disadvantage is that in hot months when windows are open most of the time, noise carries and bugs find their way inside. I’ve had a neighbor bang on my wall and even yell across the breezeway when I was just talking at a normal volume. I live by myself and have never had noise issues in an apartment, it’s made for a pretty uncomfortable situation where I feel like I have no privacy and have to walk on egg shells or be forced to close windows with temperatures nearly 90 degrees inside at times.

Parking is tight and the parking policy changed just after I moved in, making it nearly impossible for guests to find a place within the complex. At least you will have a garage or carport space for one car.

Seabrook makes a good first impression, but there are a lot of other options in the area that offer more amenities for comparable rent.

Great Place to Live

Love living close to the Ocean and Harbor in Southern California and Seabrook is perfect for this. Complex is always clean and quiet and grounds maintained ... If Maintenance is needed it is quick and friendly.
