Nice location, terrible maintenance

We have lived here for a few years because of the proximity to the beach. The interior of the apartment is dated and falling apart. The change in ownership has led to a neglect in management. The appliances don’t work and are very loud. The amount of space in the apartment is larger than newer complexes, but the problems outweigh the location. The energy costs are high because the windows are not insulated, and the management will raise the rent every 8 months despite not making any... improvements to the interior. They made improvements to their leasing office and placed wood on the patio instead of ripping off the rotten wood.

nice location, robbed me of my deposit

Just about everything that could break in my apartment, broke, and the leasing office decided to take the sleazy route when I moved out with regards to returning my security deposit.
My primary complaint came from moving out. I lived in that apartment for 14 months, poked maybe 10 holes total in the walls for hanging pictures, mirror, etc. Small easy to fill holes, easy corrections. When I moved out, I had an inspection scheduled with the leasing office for that day, so after I cleaned I could...
have someone come in and tell me what more needs to be done and I could get the majority of my deposit back. Well, turns out they had the day off and I was leaving that night. Day of moveout I spent 4 to 5 hours on my feet hands and knees cleaning this place thoroughly. Everything was as clean as I could possibly get it without knowing exactly what else they might be looking for. When I was done I left a note with the office stating it was clean, had a few tiny holes, and no one showed up for my inspection. The next day as im on my way to my new place in Chicago, the property manager tells me that there was dust on top of the fridge, minor amounts of debris in some drawers, some dog hair in the corner of window seals, some lint in the dryer (that I couldn't pry out as hard as I tried) and the stove needed to be cleaned, even though the tops didn't come off, so I had no clue how to clean it. Mind you, everything I just stated would have taken me 10 minutes tops, to clean, had the inspection taken place. She then says im going to have to pay the full amount for the place to be fully cleaned, something that would take me or anyone else 10 minutes to do and im being charged $130 for a full cleaning. That's not even the worst part. Those minor holes that I figured would take 15 minutes to fill and then maybe 20 minutes, if that to paint, she tells me that because ive been in the apt for 14 months and the paint changes color over that time, I'm going to have to pay to have THE WHOLE APARTMENT REPAINTED! I can't even make this up! I was charged $190 to have the whole apartment repainted because of 10 tiny holes for hanging paintings and pictures. There was literally no holes or anything in the bedroom, still had to pay for it to be painted.
I was and still am infuriated! I feel taken advantage of like someone was stealing from me when me and my girlfriend were both wonderful loyal tenants for the 14 months we were there.

Nice and Quiet

Everything is updateed, with stainless steel appliances, laminate flooring and marble counter tops. Does also have a large closet in the bedroom. It is a very quiet community with an ocean view from some apartments. Dog friendly, even big ones. There is a nice walking trail just feet away that looks out onto the ocean. It isn't within walking distance to any stores, so will have to drive to get to any. Mostly residential area, with many homes surrounding the one apartment community. Great... place to live if you like it quiet and not a lot of kids running around. It is a smaller community, so things move at a slower place.
