I have been living here for a few years now and never had an issue. However, I have recently come to an issue with the new building manager - Angela.
I've never had an issue with rent my entire life, including with this building beforehand (came from NYC so I've been a life long apartment dweller).
While Angela is very sweet at first, she is obviously inexperienced and at times, disorganized. This came to a head when she lost my check and tried to blame it on me.
Here are the facts:
1.... Turned in my check for June like I always do (and showed photographic evidence to Angela when requested). 2. I told Angela that I had to fly to another country for over a month for work, so I left next month's check with her. 3. Instead of communicating with me and telling me that she planned on cashing in next month's rent along with this month's rent at the same time, she went ahead and did it without warning me at all. 4. My bank flagged the additional check as fraud and stopped the process. 5. Angela told me that she tried "multiple times to call me and left me a vm". Again, this is inaccurate, and there is evidence of this on my phone...in fact, I was the one that reached out to her regarding the March rent. She then told me that her and the accountants talked about some 3 day eviction notice (which is illegal)...
My takeaways: 1. Angela seems like she is trying her best, but she seems very young and inexperienced, so she is scared when she messes up and will try to blame the tenants. 2. Angela's recollections are not accurate - I record and document everything, and I had to correct her with evidence multiple times when she asserted an incorrect statement. 3. Angela seems very young and lacks any professional experience - She seems perplexed that tenants may have demanding jobs (I have an 80 hour week job, and while I try my best to be responsive, there are inevitably going to be a few days delay). She complained about my 3 days delay, but when I showed her that she didn't respond to me for almost a month (even though this is actually her job), she tries to change the blame on something else. She also demanded that I stay on the phone with her when I told her I had to jump off the call for a meeting...
Ultimately, it felt like I was dealing with a high school girl, which is not a raving review for the property. When dealing with thousands of dollars, you should not want a high school girl to deal with the finances - This can lead to a lawsuit.
