Pretty Good Deal, Mostly Because Of Convenient Location
There are lots of good things about this apartment complex.
The best one is convenient location. You can get to USC in 15-20 minutes by car, or in about an hour by bus. You can also get to Glendale Community College in 5 minutes by car, or 7-8 minutes by bus. Downtown LA is about half an hour away by car, or 45 minutes to 1 hour by bus.
The other good thing is that there is a bus stop right in front of apartment complex. That makes getting to Downtown LA and Hollywood easy even if you don't... have a car.
Neighborhood is quiet. Neighbors are quiet and friendly. Loud music is very rare here. Laundry rooms are clean. There are lots of trees and vegetation around the complex, so you can take a short but enjoyable walk.
All in all, it is a pretty good apartment complex. The only two downsides are a lack of central air conditioning and no swimming pool, but for the price they are offering it at - I think it is about 1150 for one bedroom apartment and 1425 for two bedroom apartment - it is a pretty good deal.

Verdugo Mesa Apartments
I've been living here for a while now and I think it is absolutely the best apartment set up I've ever come across. They keep everything clean and quiet. Whenever a resident leaves they refurbish the entire apartment for the new residents. It's an old building so from time to time there will be an issue, but they take care of it all wildly quickly! I had an issue with drips of water about a month ago streaking my white walls, and you know what they did? In about a week and a half they had... replaced the entire roof. On the negative side they did say they would repaint the apartment and haven't yet, but I've only put in a single request (which should idealy be enough, but for replacing the roof I'll let it slide) The prices are outrageously low for what you normally get in a LA apartment, and honestly, the entire place is really well sized: good amount of space for actual living. As I said it is an older building so there are some things that aren't as functional as others, for instance the counter tops were fairly worn, but I also don't expect them to replace an entire kitchen counter presonally, and I kinda like how they look anyway. I don't know, all in all I love living here. Only actual complaint: no AC. Welcome to the real world!
