The best place to live

Portofino is the best place to live, I have been living in this place for 12 years, safe, quiet, no noise, and close to shops, schools, malls, hospitals, public transportation, fwys, and Manager Juan is very considerate and gives us Excellent support in any situation.

Very Mediocre Aprtments

There is more bad than good living here and it begins with parking. The stalls are narrow and small. Parking rules also aren’t enforced, someone parked in my spot once and the manager refused to tow them. Residents park their cars in the guest parking stalls (which there are very few of) and use them as second parking to avoid paying the monthly fee so having guests over is near impossible unless it is during the day. The washing machines are very small and do not wash very well and the pool is... very small. The deepest end of the pool is only 5ft and it is narrow. The complex is next to a major street and riverbed. The riverbed is home to a lot of bums and undesirable characters and the proximity of the apartments to them means that are always around the apartments. If the unit you receive faces the street there will always be the constant sound of traffic and since a major hospital is close by as well, ambulances are always passing with sirens blaring. I have also been awoken by the sound of stragglers yelling outside my window. The air-conditioning in the units is old, it isn’t very energy efficient and doesn’t cool very well which is something that is needed for the hot southern California summers. Policies at the complex are also bad. Unlike most places that give a renter 5 Days to pay the rent, here a tenant only has 3 Days to pay the rent before it is late and a 100$ late fee is imposed for each additional day it is late. The manager is also not very good at their job. She is very slow to act on complaints, often forgetting them all together, and slow to file maintenance issues. She also picks and chooses which policies to enforce. As mentioned before, she wont tow cars wrongfully parked but will complain to you if you do not break a box down before throwing it in the trash. Every Friday morning, the landscaping is done which provides a rude awakening for those that work nights. There is probably more I am forgetting but my general advice would be to look elsewhere before considering these apartments.

Great Location in Orange County

We live on the ground level in a 2 bedroom apartment. This Portofino complex is a smaller number of units than most of the mega apartment buildings in the area and neighbors are both friendly and helpful which promotes a secure atmosphere in this gated community. The site Manager is very polite yet assertive at maintaining the common amenities. We are close to I-5, SR-22, 55, and 57 freeways. We have 3 shopping Malls/Centers within a 5 mile radius. City, County, and Federal Office Buildings for... Santa Ana, Orange, and Garden Grove only minutes away. Not to mention an abundance of Health and Dental Care Offices for personal care with you require. Last but not least, there are a variety of dining and entertainments to keep you from every getting bored after a long work day and the coming weekend.
