I live in a studio loft in Santa Monica, in a building owned by NMS Studios. The building advertises it's "affordable" pricing, and new modern facilities. However, without a pool or a gym, it's "modern" facilities are pretty non existent besides the kitchen in the rooms. I will admit, the kitchen is beautiful but cheaply made. It has been falling apart in bits and pieces. All the rooms are newly renovated, so everything feels brand new.
I normally love fresh new modern things, however this... apartment has never really felt like home to me because there is no history to it; no character. It is just a little bland and boring.
The price is $1,495 per month for a studio. Which may seem affordable compared to other apartments in Los Angeles, but in two month's i'm moving to Beverly Hills and only paying $600 per month. However if you want to live alone in a relatively spacious studio, it is a good catch.
It is walking distance to Ralph's, and Crossroad's School, but everything else is a pretty decent walk. However I love to run down to the beach, so it works out for me. Another issue I have is that it has NO guest parking.
Other parts of the building are lovely however. The staff are great and friendly, so long as you do what they ask you to. The building's are designed beautifully, with a stunning water efficient gardens out front. I personally am not a fan of living in Santa Monica because it is just pretty far from anywhere outside Santa Monica. The neighborhood is very safe, just a few issues with the homeless population in the area.
