I am a young woman living in LA. Wherever I choose to live, safety is a top priority. Before signing the lease, I was assured by the woman who gave me the tour (I forget her name) that the building had security that walked through at night and a locked package room.
I have lived here 8 months now and have never once seen a security person. I have also come home multiple times to our front door wide open and once to a person experiencing homelessness riding our elevator up and down the floors... .
I work in fashion journalism so it is really important to me that I can receive packages safely. The first 3 months I lived in this building the package room door was either always unlocked or broken. Luckily, I am religious about checking my mail so I never had an issue. Once they fixed the door, though, package carriers who did not have the code started leaving packages outside the gate. This is when the real problem started. I have had 3 packages stolen in the last 2 weeks alone. This might be because the front door (though we do have a code to open it) is broken and constantly flies back open after being shut due to the wind so anyone can come and go.
It's been so incredibly inconvenient to reach the office and I have not been able to contact our property manager about these issues.
If you want to feel safe, highly recommend looking elsewhere and certainly not at a Roque and Mark property.
