Chevy Chase Towers is badly managed. The management is impossible to contact, and if you do have the chance to discuss a problem (repair, security, financial), it becomes a very heated discussion that ends in a "hang-up". Many packages and items have been stolen; trash is everywhere; pests are a problem. If you want to be able to talk about problems with the landlord/management company, do not choose Chevy Chase Towers.

Disgusting. Rent anywhere else!
Always has trash over-flowing in the garage, dumpsters, and even in the lobby (DCRA constantly cites them with fines). People leave trash everywhere. Building has signs saying it is non-smoking, but tons of residents smoke in their apartments. The smoke sticks to your furniture and clothes. Cleaning only comes once every few months and barely cleans so expect to see trash in the elevator, gnats, and roaches (management tells you that cleaning is supposed to come three times per week). They spray... for insects a few times per year (management tells you they spray the first Wednesday of every month). It's so bad the first-floor residences have to put down their own boric acid outside their doors. Packages are constantly being stolen or are mis-delivered. Maintenance is only one guy and when he does come, he is rude and will blame everything on you.

Wouldn't recommend
Marketed as a non-smoking apartment, but tons of residents smoke inside. Maintenance requests take over 6 months to be done unless it is an emergency, it will take a few weeks.

Resident at Chevy Chase Towers
I happen to be a young professional living in Washington DC alone. During my apartment search I stumbled across Chevy Chase Towers. First, I really LOVE the location. It is considered Upper Northwest and it is a perfect mix of single family homes and apartments. I live two blocks from the grocery store, CVS, and an array of shops and restaurants. My building does not have a parking lot, but off street parking is not difficult. However, they are building a new building on the corner which may... become a problem. Now the apartment in itself. It is an older building with one elevator and nine floors. It is fairly quiet. My unit has hardwood floors and an updated kitchen. The only thing that I wish was updated was the bathroom. I have had minor problems that come with living in a older building such as: plumbing issues, squeaky faucets, and occasionally I can hear my neighbors. The unit is big enough for little ole me and I feel safe living by myself in this area. The neighbors are friendly, utilities are included, and there are washers and dryers conveniently downstairs. All in all it is priced great for Connecticut Avenue and I plan to continue to reside here until I am forced to move. :-)
