Mice, roaches, more management & maintence sucks! I’ve been living here for 6 months and I hate it. Whether they like it or not I will be breaking my lease!! People sleep and use the bathroom in the hallways and lobby

Affordable living near capitol hill
The Grays on Pennsylvania is nice affordable apartment building in Southeast DC. Though the neighborhood isn't the best area of dc, it's literally a walk across the bridge to Capitol Hill. The inside lobby of the building smells pleasant and clean and feels pretty secure. They require key touch entry at entry entry and exit and on elevator, which keeps unwanted folks from roaming halls. The units are a nice size for a city apt. and they are pretty modern with appliances and hardwood floors and... unit get a lot of natural light depending on what side you face. With the good is also some bad:There aren't too many food or shopping options within walking distance unless you're walking over the bridge to Capitol Hill. The retail space has been vacant for quite some time. It would be nice if something was put there to offer something convenient to residents in building. Some of the Residents prop open the back doors with items leading to the alley way which can be a bit of a safety concern; It's quite annoying. On occasion, there are people from the outside area who enter the building through these doors and try to loiter in the stairway. But overall, i will say that my experience hasn't been bad. The staff was helpful. And the large amount of young working professionals living there brings a different element and vibe. It's a great option to living in dc and you don't wanna break your bank account to afford the high rent prices elsewhere.

Not a bad option...
The Grays on Pennsylvania is pretty decent for an affordable housing/low income building in DC. Though the outer surrounding neighborhood isn't the best, inner building is well maintained and clean. There aren't many options walking distance unless you're open to walking over a bridge to Capitol Hill. The units are fairly spacious for DC living. A few cons: Exterior is starting to look run down. Outside unit windows have not been cleaned in the 3 years that I've lived in the space so they look... filthy. The organic grocery store attached closed and has yet to be replaced with any convenience store option. Residents continuously prop open the back doors leading to the alley way which can be a safety concern; this is due to residents not having key access to enter the back doors. The units have a duel washer/dryer combo machine which literally takes 3-6 HOURS to dry clothing. It's quite annoying. On occasion, there are a group of teens that smoke marijuana in the parking garage which can also be a safety concern since it isn't clear if they are residents or if they simply sneak in. But overall, my experience hasn't been horrible. Met some wonderful young, professionals living there. It's decent if you want to live in the city but can't afford the high rent prices.
