Sherman no longer owns the Nexus and Dawn and Annie no longer work here, therefore, the outstanding service is no longer available. New management is only looking for ways to charge residents more money. They are unprofessional and only make excuses.
I am a current resident and can't wait to move out! All property owners should be forced to put a clause in their lease to let tenants out of their lease if they sell!!!!!!

Highly recommended
I moved in here November of 2018 when the structure was just 9 or 10 months old (LEED certified). The three main people to know are Annie, Dawn and Chad. Annie will help you find an apartment that works for you but is also helpful in many ways. Dawn is the property manager and has an open door policy. When you speak with her, you do not feel like she has something better to do. Chad does a great job as the maintenance/grounds keeper. All of my requests have been promptly handled. This is the... best experience I have had anywhere. Two examples: a nearby trash room door was shutting loudly. I put in a request for it to shut more quietly and within 24 hours, it did. Another day, while in a hurry, I threw my keys down the trash shoot along with my trash. Chad dug through the trash and found them. Annie, Dawn and Chad make this a great place to live. There is a community room with a pool table, TV and various other tables. You can reserve this room for events, which people do periodically but not too often. The fitness room is stocked with some free weights and aerobic machines. I only used it one time but it may save you a gym membership, depending on what you want to have available. This place is dog friendly. It is fun to get to meet other people’s dogs in the lobby or elevator and can be an avenue to meet your neighbors. In my experience, the people that live here are friendly and courteous. I have never had to consider complaining about noise coming from somewhere else. There is a neighborhood association that sometimes advertises its functions, called DNA or Des Moines Neighborhood Association. I attended a board meeting at which a city council member spoke for about a half hour, selling a sales tax increase. This agenda item was not announced in the advertisement. As it turns out, the current mayor was/is a member of this organization. It would have been helpful to know up front that there is a political undercurrent. But, it does have social functions and is a way to meet people. If you like walking or jogging, Gray’s Lake is nearby with the Racoon River running adjacent to its North side. Near that point, there is an eagles’ nest on the river. I have walked around the lake many times. If you like underground parking, the building has a beautiful garage for an additional charge. As I stated above, I highly recommend Nexus at Gray’s Landing and will miss it as I move away to another state.
