EXPENSIVE LIVING from year to year

I've lived here about 17 months now and while I love my apartment and the communities location to plenty of green space (especially for walking my dog), it has become expensive to live here now.

My renewal letter came and not only was I given only 10 days to decide or the offer would expire and increase BUT the property still retained their legal 60 day notice to vacate, I saw my rent go up 10.5%. Add on that the parking space I first got as FREE I am now being charged $125/mo, but they have...
tacked on a mandatory $89 technology fee. (Won't get into how properties now charge you for trash pick up per month which I alway think should just be a part of the rent).

Granted, I was given a $1500 concession because I argued it was cheaper not to resign for my current apt and just apply for another apt in the community because it was cheaper... odd how a LOYAL tenant is penalized to stay by higher rates but a new tenant not only gets LOWER monthly rents but other incentives, like FREE month. So, basically the concession pays for my parking and my rent still went up 10.5%.

Now the TECHNOLOGY FEE of $89 is for 1G/1000Mpbs of internet via Xfinity. You can't get a lower package (I pay $55 for AT&T because its just me for 500Mpbs). THE KICKER is that if I went to Xfinity directly (I can't) that same 1000Mpbs plan is $65/month PLUS you get PEACOCK PREMIUM free. For the property it equals out to almost $120,000 of pure profit AND I still have to deal with Xfinity if there is an issue with my internet!

In a nutshell, great apartment. Great location. Awesome neighbors. Cool Management. BUT if you think its a deal, wait til you renew. Its sad, because they've done nothing to the property since I moved here, havent changed anything in my apartment other than filters YET a 10% increase. Doubt management or staff saw even that much in an increase in their pay.

Not luxury living....

Let me start out by saying how we were attached to this property because of a shuttle to downtown on the weekends and another shuttle on weekdays to the train station. Both of these are now gone. The elevators are broken more than I can count, at least one of the garage doors are always down, and one of the elevators has missing pieces out of the floor. All of happening sometimes and getting fixed relatively fast wouldn't be a problem, if that were the case. Pray a light doesn't go out on your... floor as they don't keep something like this in stock, very odd with 5 buildings each having 5 floors, that's a lot of lights. There was a front door out of service for about 4 months too.

Putting all of those maintenance issues to the side and you will also have TERRIBLE management staff. Asked for a 2nd parking spot during a holiday special, and I was told they would get back to you, didn't get back to me but did email the entire building saying they in fact lost all data where we had assigned locations and we needed to tell them where we were original assigned.

Do yourself a huge favor and look at the many, many other options. Would have been zero stars if that was an option.

NOTHING IS LUXURY ABOUT STAYING AT 500 STATION APARTMENTS

NOTHING is Luxury about staying at 500 Station Blvd, they feed you a bunch of lies to get you to sign the lease and then the minute you move in any issues you have will not be resolved. The walls are very thin and you keep hear your neighbors making every type of noise. The maintenance of the building and apartments are terrible, they do the bare minimum to your unit before your move in and don't resolve any issues that you advise of that may be going on in your unit. The carpet in the hallways... of every building is beyond dirty. Some renters allow there dogs to urinate in the elevators and stairways. There are kids constantly running in the hallways of the building. I would not recommend this property to anyone, I cant wait until my lease IS up, if it didn't cost so much to break your lease I would do so NOW.

Apartments look nice, prepare for lots of problems.

The apartments appear nice and have some luxeries but once you live in them be ready to deal with a lot of frustration. It’s evident that they built the place extremely quick, and cut a lot of corners. Things were constantly breaking and the mantainance was slow to fix problems or would just say “that’s just the way it was built” with things like the carpet regularly coming up, exposing the misaligned nails to your feet. There were multiple times when the key fobs to the doors wouldn’t work and... they didn’t fix them for over a week, and so you would have to try to either wait for the garage to open or hope that someone would be walking but who could let you in! The elevators were also constantly breaking down and they weren’t quick to fix those either and wouldn’t give us an exact date when they things would be fixed, so we’d end up having to carry all our groceries up 3 flights of stairs. The counter tops were uneven and things would roll off. The cabinets would have issues opening all the way and would rub against each other making a horrible noise, and the parking garage and hall ways would sometimes smell like sewage. We had some friends who also lived there who once had the sewage back up into their apartment (on the second floor) and it ruined a lot of their stuff. Management did the bare minimum to keep them and the rest of us quiet when problems would come up because they knew we wouldn’t have the time to try to fight it with them. Once we moved out we found out we found out that they weren’t forwarding any of our mail and it cause huge problems. When we contacted them to try to figure out where it was, they would just keep telling us they would look into it and call us back. I get that every place has its issues, but this place is excessive to say the least, and the management is only after signing new leases, nothing more.

Property Manager at 500 Station Apartments responded to this review

We are truly sorry for the experience that you have had at 500 Station but after further looking into your review we want to clarify that the complaints listed do not match any issue that has come into our office. Never has our staff said “this is... just the way it’s built” or let an elevator be down for days at a time, this is not how the "new" management team onsite respond to issues and believe that your concerns and complaints come from the previous management team. 500 Station's new office staff has an open door policy and would love to meet with this you in person to introduce ourselves and alleviate any concerns you may have. We can assure you that you will be welcomed and heard with empathy that will bring a positive resolution. Thank you and look forward to seeing you soon.
