Rude and Shady

Went to a viewing, the woman was rude before we even entered the office and rather unkindly told us we had parked in tenants’ spots and asked us to move, which is understandable of course but she wasn’t understanding of the fact that there was no signage or indication to park elsewhere. The guy behind the desk was weird, he looked like he was trying to appear professional but had on oversized sweats. Which I’m not hating on no one’s sweatpants, but it just wasn’t the right vibe. The whole... experience made me uncomfortable and it seemed like they were attempting to look well-rounded and put-together while actually being sketchy.

West Mound Apartments

I’m retired. This is my first time Im living in an apartment. It’s an awesome experience for me. Yes it’s new owners. I see a lot of repairs being done. It takes time. My place is comfy and homey. And the maintance guys are awesome. They don’t hesitate to get back with you and get the problem fixed for you. I’m so glad I chose to live here.

Reeks of Cigarettes

I moved here from out of state. The day I was supposed to move in I wasnt allowed to have my keys at noon as the lease stated because the carpets were still being cleaned.

When I showed back up at 2pm with my movers in tow, the property manager was still in my apartment cleaning it. She explained that she wasn't sure what happened but it never got cleaned nor painted.

God bless her for trying but the apartment REEKED of cigarettes and still does. To make matters worse the kitchen cabinets are...
cheap fiber board and stained with food and grease. Its an uncleanable surface.

I was promised a phone call either Friday afternoon or Monday. Never received it. Would I recommend this complex? Currently that's a big heck no. If they make anything right I will update this review.

If I could submit pictures of the cabinets I would post them. They are disgusting.

New Owners,

This apartment complex has new owners. Fairlawn Real Estate. Since they have taken over, the complex has went downhill fast to say the least. People are moving out all the time and it's easy to see why. The new owners have taken the locks off the laundry room doors, maintenance problems get addressed in a couple weeks if you are lucky, the dumpsters are broke down and overflowing all the time, lights in the parking lots and hallways burn out and don't get fixed, the designated parking spot for... your apartment gets parked in and they don't do anything about it. My mother lived there since 2009. The previous owners was fabulous. They cared about their tenants and any problems and their safety. The new owners had been in charge for about a year when my mother passed. I took the keys to the apartment to the office and told them of my mother passing and told them I would have all her stuff out by the end of the month so they could rent it again. They said they would mail the deposit in 30 days to me. 40 days later I called them and they said the apartment was dirty so they was keeping the deposit. I had the apartment professionally cleaned 6 days before my mother passed because she was suppose to come home from the hospital. I emailed the pictures I took after I had the apartment cleared out and then they said okay we won't charge for the cleaning but we require a 30 day notice before moving out ( she was on a month to month lease ). She didn't give a 30 day notice before passing away. Yea, you read that right. I went to the manager in Bloomington (Marilyn) and tried to discuss the matter and she said they was keeping the deposit and there was nothing else to discuss. These people don't care about you, your apartment, or your safety. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere in Decatur. There are lots of apartment complexes that indeed do care about you, your apartment (maintenance) and your safety. These people just care about your rent at the end of the month.
