Be prepared for extra charges tacked on to your bill that weren’t in your lease! Our lease that starts the same days as their new mandatory internet fee yet they chose not to disclose prior to signing because we were told EXACTLY 30 days in advance. The same lease specifically states that to receive internet, we needed to seek a third party provider because The Residences doesn’t provide it.
Hundreds of residents are now being forced to pay for the internet Birge and Held (owners of the... complex) have selected, spent different six visits installing and are almost certainly making money off what amounts to internet exclusivity. Many people are locked into existing internet contracts and are stuck either paying both monthly fees (don’t worry, the complex’s fee is much higher!) or shelling out exorbitant cancellation fees.
Their replies to negative feedback are hilarious. Reach out to management to ask questions and all you’ll get is “yes it sucks and yes we’re doing it anyway! Nothing you can do about it!”
Look at reviews for other B&H properties and the company themselves. This is their MO, it seems. Do not rent unless you’re budgeting hundreds of extra dollars per year on top of whatever agreement you sign.

Renters Beware
Trash compactor is always down with trash everywhere. Bogus fees. They just started forcing their own internet. You can’t opt out. It goes against the lease. It’s wireless and if you need hardwired then you have to pay to get it installed in their apartment. Started charging bogus package fees to sit packages behind a locked door. DO NOT RENT HERE!

Lived here for several years...
I've lived at this property since Dec 2018 (I've lived in two apartments here), so I think I have a pretty solid idea about the property's strengths and weaknesses. I lived here before the new company Birge & Held took over and I have seen a decline in the property as a whole.
Before Birge & Held took over we constantly saw maintenance out picking up trash and overall just making sure the property looked great from an aesthetic point of view on a regular basis. The grass was watered, etc....
Since Birge & Held took over the grass isn't being watered by the apartments -- only by the leasing office -- so it looks patchy in the spring/summer/fall. Pool fixtures were not fixed during pool season and there's a street light that is constantly flashing by my building and hasn't been fixed for months. I'm not even confident they drained the pool before winter. Also, I'm pretty sure that before the first big cold and ice they didn't salt the sidewalks before Christmas 2022. They're usually outstanding at doing that in prep for bad weather.
Overall, the super high quality that I was accustomed to has gone down. I think it's due to this company trying to increase the return for investors. They did replace all appliances (all floors) and flooring (first floors) but I'm not confident that wasn't just a cash grab to raise rent next year. (The apartments are relatively new so appliances and floors didn't need replacing.) Our apartment is being listed at over $200 more per month on the website for new renters than what we're paying now which is worrisome.
Now, to be fair, this place was a great deal when I first rented. It appears they're trying to get this property up to "market" plus a little extra. I just hope they actually continue the good quality that we're used to. Time will tell if it's not already telling.
Strengths: maintenance servicemen are quick and reliable, apartments are nicely sized for the current cost, small gym, lovely pool, leasing office staff has been helpful and forthright when I've asked some difficult questions, gift wrapping station in the winter, cute events throughout the year (which I've never gone to but it's nice that they put them on).
Weaknesses: property maintenance hasn't been maintained as much.
I'm getting the sense that for what I'm paying, I'm not getting as much. That's making us (long-term renters who always pay on time) look elsewhere.

DO NOT RENT
DO NOT RENT!!! Staff have a mean girl’s attitude, not friendly and completely unhelpful when asked for help as it takes away from their time of socializing and gossiping during office hours! Walls in this place are paper thin, I can here every toilet flush! There is a dog living upstairs and I hear every single nail scratching on the wooden floors and barking at allll hours!! The drains stink! Smells like the people opposite are growing a marijuana farm!! The AC only works in the living space... and will not reach the bedroom!! Uncomfortable living. Over priced! DO NOT RENT!!!

Great Community
My husband and I have lived here for a couple of years now and we love it here. The office staff have been so friendly and helpful, the maintenance staff is also great. In fact, we know everyone by their first names. Our apt. is wonderful and all issues are handled Immediately. Once again, we love it, and we love our community. Thanks.
