Safe, convenient, great management
My son has lived at Southgate 2 Apartments for 2 years now and has loved it. The location can't be beat! It's walking distance to the LSU campus so an easy stroll to classes and athletic events. The property is also well kept and management is great. It's privately owned and Heidi and her team do a fantastic job taking care of residents on a very personal level.

Price gouging
Don't expect a security deposit back no matter how clean the apartment is when you leave. They'll charge $135 for any amount of cleaning, even if it is simply dusting the blinds. They also charge $100 to steam clean the carpeting on the stairs which are no more than 80 sq. ft. Make sure you note any amount of dirtiness when you move in. I left the apartment cleaner than when I moved in and was still charged because I didn't note some things beforehand. I lived there for 5 years and caused no... problems or damage in the apartment. They don't do anything for their tenants. The apartments have also become overpriced recently, they will add $20 or more to your rent every time you renew your lease. You can do better than southgate 2.

Southgate Condos & Southgate 2 Apartments offer clean, updated, affordable accommodations for those who appreciate professional management & quality maintenance, within walking distance of the South Gates of LSU. Strict screening guidelines and... excellent facilities upkeep help us promote a comfortable & safe living environment. Prior to moving in, all residents receive a list of everything they need to do for a full security deposit refund, with cleaning charges clearly printed on the list. Upon receipt of vacate notices, residents are again given the cleaning list. Deposits are refunded fully or in part, depending on the condition the apartment is left in. Rental rates are increased as market rates increase, and not at each lease renewal. For value & convenience, Southgate Condos & Southgate 2 Apartments are just the right place to live!
