Horrific Living

My living experience here was absolutely dreadful, beyond what anyone could possibly imagine. The management team is constantly changing, which leads to a lack of consistency and professionalism. The maintenance staff is not only unhelpful but also incredibly rude. They never complete work orders and their behavior is completely unprofessional.

The apartments themselves are outdated and poorly maintained. The walls are so thin that you can hear every single noise from your neighbors - their...
conversations, their television, and even the sound of flushing toilets. The level of noise is simply unbearable. Additionally, the apartments are not properly soundproofed, as you can even hear the ringing and vibrating of their phones.

The pool is a complete disappointment, as it is never clean and the clubhouse is always filthy and never accessible. It feels like a joke rather than a place to relax and enjoy. Furthermore, reaching the office is nearly impossible, as they are never available to address any concerns or issues.

During the winter, the snow removal is practically non-existent, leaving the sidewalks dangerously icy. And in the summer, the grounds are infested with ticks. It is highly advised not to let your pets outside, as they will be covered in ticks.

To make matters worse, the water has a foul odor and it not only turns the tub brown but also leaves a terrible buildup in the toilets. It is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary.

I made the decision to move out of this place within just 8 months because I simply could not bear the living conditions any longer. It was the worst experience of my life.

Will not help you.

Do not live here. In their own words 43 North "does not have a legal obligation to ensure that your client's apartment is silent, or even "quiet."
Decent apartment if the management cared about their tenants and not just their money. I really liked my apartment here compared to anything I've lived in before. The price I pay is good compared to Grand Haven, Holland, and Grand Rapids. The appliances are standard, nothing new, but all do the job. The apartment is spacious and the complex is nice....
I've had maintenance done once and it was quick and the person was nice. I do think the people in the leasing office want to help you, especially Issac. The complex is very pet friendly so there are a lot of dogs and my experience with most of them has been good.

That's where it leads to the bad. About 3 months ago, neighbors moved in above me with two medium size dogs that bark and howl all the time. I waited about a month before going to the leasing office to give them time to settle in and see if anything improved. After that time I went to the office and reported the barking and sent them clips of the dogs barking over the last month. Every few days to a week over the last 1.5-2 months I have been in the office updating them on the ever worsening situation. It literally sounds like I am living below a kennel from 6:30am-6pm every day Monday-Sunday. Over the time reporting the incidents, they have been emailed, called, and been shown the audio and the dog owners have done nothing to improve the situation.

Here's the problem, Isaac in the office has been helpful the whole time but the process he has to follow, because no one in the office actually has the power to do anything, is so slow neighbors have been living next to a kennel for months.

In order for this place to do anything to help you in these situations you have to spend months to go to court. They will not help you during the process, they will not reimburse you. You are a number on their financial checkbook to them and that is it. Take time reading their lease and realize they don’t legally have to enforce it if it’ll cost them money. Do not live here.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH 43 NORTH

$50 application per applicant PLUS a $200 “holding fee” that is not optional AND non refundable after 48 hours, all before ever laying eyes on an apartment. Don’t even apply here, they’re just nickel and dimeing every possible transaction they can.

Nope

They require DNA testing on your dogs, so if the dog poops and you are a lazy mf and don’t pick up and dispose and IF they decide to pick it up and test and matches to your dog, $150 per poop.

Although dog poop is bountiful around here, they only pick up if you were smart enough to not register your dog with them. It’s all about the money, don’t register, they don’t care.

Don’t waste your time to complain, they won’t have anyone pick up the poop. Stay off the grass and “enjoy” the additions...
to the landscaping.

Absolutely Recommend

I lived in a one bedroom apartment at 43 North for 3 years. If i didn’t have to relocate for work I would have stayed even longer.

This is a quiet, well taken care of community with great staff! The apartment has tall ceilings and a very open layout. I looked at other apartments in the area and this one by far beat out all the rest. The design/layout has character compared to the other standard apartments I’m used to seeing.

Trust me. This place will feel like home.
