DO NOT LIVE HERE

I just ended my year lease at this apartment. It was the longest year of my life.
I didn't know much about the area at all but the apartment seemed really hip and cool. Chelsea talked up the place and showed all the "awesome" amenities. I signed my lease and my moving day arrived, I moved in and a week later I was awoken in the middle of the night to several gunshots. I jumped out of bed and looked out my window that faced the metro and I saw two groups of people running away from each other...
and gun shots flying. I then witnessed someone who was shot on the ground and dying from their wound. This became such a common occurrence that it didn't scare me any more.

The shootouts happened at any time of day. It is not just in the late hours of the night.

Fedex and Amazon will not put your package in the secure mail room. They will leave it outside the building or anywhere in the lobby where someone will steal it. I had several packages stolen during my year there. The first time it happened I talked to the apartment manager and she did not care at all, she said "oh yeah it happens". If the package does make it to the mail room you most likely wont get a code for the room and when you ask the leasing office to open the room for you they will be super rude about it.

The fire alarm for the building went off a few times a month.

The weekends are like the wild west. There is not maintenance and no one in the leasing office sunday. People go crazy. One morning I was in the elevator to go to work and there was vomit on the floor.

My car got broken into while parked in the "secure" underground garage. Last october we will told very last minute (30 minutes before) that our cars had to be out of the garage because it was going to be under renovation and we had to park on the surface lot outside. I was not compensated the $150 a month that i still had to pay even though I was not parking in the underground garage.

The staff is so rude and horrible at communicating. During my year there I would send emails and never hear back and when I would go in person to the office they were so unkind.

The hallways alway smell like cigarettes and burned food.

Anyone who has written a good review for the apartment must have just moved in because everyone that I have met in the building hates this place. I was told by another resident that most people break their lease because they can't stand to live there anymore.

Apartment Nightmare

Last year I signed a lease with B-Side and I was new to the area. They did a great job with prices and trick you into all the amenities their apartment offers. They made it seem like they were a family, cared about their residents. Everything seemed new, up to date, safe, and one of their biggest sales point was that it was next to a light rail ( I should've known better). Please do your research on this area before you even consider moving into it and I recommend you visit this apartment at... night if you're really contemplating.
- Fire alarms constantly went off throughout the apartment, forcing residents out of their apartment at odd hours of the night. The fire department would show up and everything would be cleared within an hour or two because of something little. My biggest problem was that there was no communication what caused it (ever).
- I paid $150 for parking and if the fire alarm went off, the underground gate would not open and you would be unable to get your car out of the underground garage.
- The parking is crazy, I paid $150 for underground parking and my car still got broken into. I had several friends who paid for the parking outside and their cars were broken into on several occasions and even had damages on their vehicle. IF something goes wrong with your underground parking access card, B-Side has no control over resetting it because they share this parking structure and it technically does not belong to them.
- There is almost never anyone there who wants to help you. They are quick to get you in and never want to talk to you ever again. Their turn over is extremely high.
- I was so afraid to have my packages delivered here because packages would constantly be stolen or the door was broken, preventing anyone from accessing their packages.
- There were always homeless people inside the apartment complex, roaming around and it was the most frightening thing because I lived on my own for a couple months. They always talked about improving the security and when I was there, nothing was done. I hope this has improved.
- Quality of the Apartment
The walls are very thin and you can hear the conversations and television from your neighbors. The apartment is updated but everything is done very cheaply and breaks down.
