Do not rent here

By far the worst place I have lived in. From the first 3 months living here to almost getting broken into in my apartment 2x, to the the constant fighting of my tenants next door using weapons and bleach. To the many issues with our washer and leaks, worms coming out of our bathtub drains to now a roach infestation happening in this building oh and random strangers walking around the premises in our halls, and maintenance does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The property management is terrible here. I would... Not recommend moving here. STAY AWAY!!

I’ve been here 3 years now going on four and everything is still the same as stated above. My next issue is I am asking about strange fees in my rent. When I first moved in I was not charged for water and sewer. My second year they started charging $45 for water I said Ok didn’t think much about it. My 3rd year it increased to $75 almost now double and since I have been asking for proof of this water bill and they keep giving me the run around. I work very hard and should be entitled to know where my money is going. I’ve since then had asked numerous times for proof of this water and sewer bill breakdown for my apartment. And I’ve asked for the company name and they refuse or ignore my requests. Now I’ve spoken to other tenants to other buildings in the area and they have told me that they receive a separate bill directly from water and sewer company. If you can AVOID this building DO THAT! They are not honest and my rent goes up about $200 every year and I don’t understand why?! This building is dirty, it stinks and there are still roaches in the building! But they are quick to bill you rent even 10 days early and if you are late by any chance they will start eviction before 30 days!! TERRIBLE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT!!! STAY AWAY!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

Pros and Cons

The pros first: the apartment themselves are nice, fairly new with plenty of space and closets. They recently installed a locked package room, so packages are rarely stolen anymore (still happens sometimes, it’s a bad neighborhood after all). The garage is on the first floor of the building so you don’t have to leave the premises to get in your car. When there was briefly a roach problem, management stamped it out quickly by having a mandatory exterminator come to all apartments. The super does... a good job of keeping common areas clean. The price is good and garage parking is only $50/month.

The cons: the neighborhood is loud and unsafe. I hear people fighting outside all the time. The police come fairly often. This website says it’s “very walkable”…no. It’s absolutely not a neighborhood I’d walk alone in. Some residents of the building are extremely loud. I consistently heard screaming, violent fights through the walls which was super upsetting. I wrote to management about it and repeatedly tried to call them with no luck—Management is extremely hard to reach and they don’t return calls or texts. They’re also disorganized; I put in an urgent maintenance request last September that my ceiling was leaking. They contacted me about it in February.

Overall, it’s a mixed bag. I don’t regret living here but I’m thrilled to leave soon. They market this building as luxury, but it’s absolutely not.
