Management: 2/10 New “property manager” every few months, the current property manager either does not respond to resident concerns via email or simply does not know how to help you.
General upkeep and maintenance: 10/10 The building is kept very clean, there’s a company that cleans the lobby/gym/common areas. There are fresh flowers in the lobby weekly, we had a fall pumpkin arrangement outside the entrance and we currently have a Christmas tree in the lobby. The very few maintence requests... I’ve submitted were responded to promptly and handled well.
Noise: 0/10 ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Please keep in mind that this building is one block away from a very busy roundabout, so there is honking sun up to sun down from cars and semi trucks alike, there’s even the occasional car race/engine revving to keep you up at night. This building is also blocks from the police station and about a mile from a popular parkway entrance, so it is LOUD. Morning commute, school buses in the afternoon and madness on the weekends. We’re also about 10 minutes from Newark International Airport. Did the builder anticipate this and instal the proper noise canceling windows? Of course not. The unit below me has two small dogs that bark non stop every single day… sounds like they’re right in my bedroom. I can even hear my neighbors saying “quiet!”, when they care to stop it. My neighbors above me are cinder-block-footed individuals that I absolutely detest. When I’m in my living room, my wall holding my tv shakes with every step they take and there’s a crack in my ceiling from what sounds like their kids wrestling/body slamming each other above me, and that’s just the living room. From their bathroom, I can very distinctly hear every flush of the toilet from my sofa. If I’m showering or getting ready for work, I’m listening very clearly to their teenage boy’s conversations. When I’m in bed, my door AUDIBLY shakes on it’s hinges from the boys wrestling out fighting, slamming doors and stomping around while my headboard rattles. Oh how LOVELY :-)
In a nutshell, beautiful on first glance, but I regret signing my lease and am already looking for a quieter apartment to move to. In this building your experience is very largely decided by the people you live around, because your walls floors and ceilings are paper thin. Bring this up to management and they won’t respond. They just care about collecting the rent for this “luxury” building.
