New owners & office staff are a HUGE change!

I’ve lived at this property for about 7yrs. There is a strikingly noticeable change once Eagle Rock took over and everyone notices it. It’s always been a beautiful property with a lot of potential and the people who live here are great. There’s a real sense of community here. There’s a lot of kids of all ages and a lot of dogs too! The maintenance staff, who all chose to stay and work for the new owners, have always been fantastic. It’s a pretty small staff for this large property but they... manage to consistently handle any and every request, and the occasional emergency, expeditiously with a smile and always go out of their way to help with anything I’ve ever asked. We’re very lucky to have them. The new property manager and sales manager have changed the whole vibe here. It now feels like a home rather than what we all felt with the last owner. The office feels welcoming instead of a closed locked building. Someone happily answers the phone when you call which is a wonderful change. Anything happening on the property is communicated with residents in a timely manner – again an upgrade. It used to be very clear that rent was being collected but not a dime was being spent on the property. Now, with the new owner & manager, we physically see the changes every day. I see them walking on the property all the time and there’s a great sense of them being part of our community and wanting to make life here the best possible for residents. The property manager lives on site which is great too because who better to care about quality of living experience, and to understand any issue someone has, than someone who actually lives here. Eagle Rock has promised some great changes and so far, has come through on all of them. The whole property is in the process of a much needed face lift and I’m looking forward to the upgrades for the lake area, courts, gym, and dog park. I’m also hoping those upgrades won’t make our rent skyrocket but that remains to be seen. I would recommend checking the place out, especially for families, and feel free to talk to anyone you see walking. Most people are really friendly. The pool is huge and clean. There’s basketball and tennis courts that are on the list for a revamp I’m told which is awesome. There’s always kids outside playing and people walking. With the new office staff and owners, I love living here again.

I liked the place

I had a nice experience here. I was living here for two and a half years. The management was nice and the maintenance crew was very friendly and helpful. They were usually quick to respond to any issues. I felt the place was quiet. My only issue is the rent. When I first signed the lease the only addition was the garbage. Then when my I renewed my lease they added water to the lease.

It is the worst place to live.

The landing at Mohegan lake has the worst possible apartments to be in. Yes the apartment itself if very modern but the maintenance doesn't do anything and the leasing office always starts problems. The pool is also very green and gross.

Review from a Resident for over 5 years

I have been hesitant to write a review as we had such great and bad memories of this complex. We lived here over 6 years in both a 1 bedroom and moved into a 2 bedroom when we started a family.

We have seen several managers and companies come and go and where with the original New Chalet owners. We really loved the location and the amenities for the price. Under the new ownership they started renovating the apartments and started raising the rates and removing the 2 year lease option with no...
warning. Removing the 2 year lease option made it easy to raise us 35% total in 3 years. Finally after raising us again we decided to find any money we could to buy a house. We could not afford the rent anymore and it became stressful especially when we used to be able to sign 2 year leases with a $25 rent increase.

When we gave management notice we were held to pay out our entire (I repeat) entire lease! Luckily we only had a few months left but the lease said if you leave you have to pay the entire lease. So we had to pay the expensive monthly rent for a vacant apartment. I bit the bullet though and paid my rent and then waited the 30 days for my deposit back. I am just glad I got my deposit and thank management for that.

I really feel for all the tenants that we have meet that have been there for years and can not afford the high rent. We currently pay $400 cheaper for a 3 bedroom house then we did for our apartment.

Pros
- location
- pool (although no visitors on the weekend?!)
- tennis and basketball area
- good size apartments with lots of closets
- washer and dryer in the unit
- tenants there are still nice sense of community

Cons
- price
- only 1 year lease option
- no playground for kids
- due to old windows in the unit electric bill was at least $200-$300 a moth
- 1 day notice to preform Maintence in your unit and most of the time no one would show up

Quiet. Nice, until you need something fixed.

4 years ago, rent was reasonable for the market rate. Now, 'old time tenants' get rent hikes of 10% or more to pay for the remodeling or new buildings, so a one bedroom is something like $1900 a month. Trash removal is not free, it's an extra $25 a month. Don't leave any unbroken down boxes in the trash, otherwise, it'll still be left at your doorstep and you'll have to take it to the dumpster yourself. Maintenance requests are often ignored as well, having to call 3 or more times to get a... bathroom sink fixed. Snow removal is also shoddy. If you're lucky, you may get a bucket of salt left at your unit to salt the sidewalks yourself, otherwise, you risk slipping. The plus side is that it is quiet and when it's the right season, the grass is mowed constantly and the leaves are all blown away.
