DON'T BELIEVE THE 5-STAR RATING!!!

Be sure to check the dates on the reviews. How this sad place can have a 5-star rating with 1-star reviews makes NO sense. The higher ratings are from long ago under MUCH better management. Was nice but sucks now. Take a stroll behind the buildings to get the full picture. Constantly overflowing HUGE trash dumpster. Massive piles of dog poop all over the place. Parking that blocks emergency vehicle access. Collapsed border fence with boards wedged against it to hold it up in several places.... Busted down creek bridge for close to a year now. Burnt out apartments building for about two years now. Management is standoffish and rude. Fees, fees, FEES! Save yourself a lot of time, money, stress and disappointment. Avoid this and every other apartment complex managed by VILLAGE GREEN. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of them in the Columbus area. Buyer beware.

Property Manager at Camden Place responded to this review

Hi, Apartments.com Reviewer – Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Camden Place has not met your expectations. We’d like to address the concerns you raised and provide clarity on the steps... we’re taking to improve the community. Regarding the trash compactor and garbage area, we are actively working to resolve this issue promptly. For your concerns about parking and emergency vehicle access, we’d appreciate any additional details you can provide so we can investigate further and take appropriate action. The wooden fencing along Tuttle Mall’s driveway is owned by the mall, and unfortunately, we do not have the rights to repair it. As for the creek bridge, it has been reviewed, and we’ve accepted a bid for its replacement to ensure it is restored soon. If you’d like to discuss these matters further or share additional details about your concerns, we encourage you to reach out to our management team directly. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. Best regards, The Camden Place Management Team

DO NOT LIVE HERE

AVOID THIS PLACE. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!
The staff in the office are dismissive and rude. They are nice when you come as a new tenant and as soon as you become one- you are treated totally different. You get charged for amities that dont work half the time or are so overcrowded with people (pool) who don't even life at this complex you can't enjoy it.. Hot tub rarely works and is gross (never cleaned)
The complex doesn't offer valet trash yet they only have one place to put trash for the close to...
200 units so you get to walk your trash almost a half mile or get to put it in you care to take it where it needs to go.
Basements flood so don't even think it is "extra living space" because you can't use it for what it is intended for. The ONLY thing good about this place is that is off the main road, so the noise and traffic is only the people that live in the complex. If you enjoy an evening walk be ready to get attacked by the droves of geese especially in the spring or spend most of your walk dodge piles of goose crap all over the complex and sidewalks.
Oh and finally one of the buildings burned in November and its a awesome eyesore to look at as soon as you come home as it is the very first things you see when you arrive. They have done nothing but put a fence around the building and it burned back in November. It needs torn down and just because it was cold doesn't mean they couldn't do this. Things get demolished and rebuilt all year long.
Oh and if you want to break your lease and they don't care what reason it is. Be prepared as it will cost you between 8000-9000 dollars (they charge 4000 as a "Fee" to break the lease. Plus you have to give 60 day notice AND pay the rent for those 60 days too) to get out of it because I wanted to move out because it is so bad before my lease ends due to the poor conditions and the nickel and diming they do. This place is just sad. Thank goodness my lease is up in July so I can get the heck out of this place.

Misrepresentations and wasted time

Was lied to about availability. Calls were not returned as I was strung along for two weeks. Delayed my move by a month and lost application fees because I was told an apartment would be available that never was.

The front office is incompetent and is now charging us an additional $1400-1500

We signed a lease back in early 2018 that tied us to an apt from June 2018 to June 2019. We were planning on moving back to Campus area but the new lease we signed started in August 2019. So, we asked for an extension on our lease to August of 2019 stating that we signed another lease to start that same month. The office was gracious enough to allow the extension. We were still required to sign a 60-day intent to move out though. We asked them if we could sign the intent to move out that day... (December 2018). They said it is company policy to have it exactly 60 days from the move out day. They even stated that they would provide a reminder 90 days from the end of our lease so that we don’t forget. Fast forward to the extension months (June-August). Our rent was supposed to increase in June (which we understood and agreed). Due to the complexity of the rent over these months, we went down to the office to ask about our new rent amount. The rent was going to be different for each month. So, we had to stop by every first of the month to insure that we paid the correct amount. Not one of those times were we asked if we planned on renewing or terminating our lease in August. We never received our 90-day notice reminder and come late July, we inquired about the exact move-out day, to which they stated that we haven’t submitted an intent to leave. We tell them that we stated back in December that we were intending to leave but they wouldn’t let us submit it in writing. Moreover, they never reminded us at the 60-day mark. Their answer was that it was company policy to not take 60-day notice until 60 days out and the reminder is more of a “courtesy” than a requirement. On top of that, they tried to play it off as if they were helping us by ending the lease in late September instead of extending it a whole year. Their stupid policy and incompetence has led them to “hold us accountable” for $1400-1500 of rent that we can’t afford. I will admit that I forgot to submit the 60-day intent to leave, but why wouldn’t they make a note in our folder that we planned on leaving in August 2019 when we stated it to them in December 2018 or why wouldn’t they allow us to sign an intent to leave well before the 60-day mark, or why wouldn’t they remind us when we met with them several times over the preceding months? AVOID THIS PLACE. The front office may seem nice at first but they are incompetent and will hide behind the legal documents instead of admitting their failures.

Parking is a JOKE

I've been living here for 5 months and the parking is an absolute JOKE. There is NO assigned parking, everything is a free for all, which means coming home after 7pm you'd be lucky to find a spot within a reasonable walking distance of your apartment. If you're looking for a spot to park any time after 7pm, expect to park a solid couple blocks away. As an added bonus to the ridiculousness of their parking lot, there are tenants that abuse the lot as their own personal "car storage" in a sense... that they have no problem letting one of their vehicles stay put for weeks on end while using a garage to park their "every day" car for a guaranteed parking spot. Multiple complaints have been submitted to the management about this issue to which is only addressed with a casual shrug and heartless apology. I suppose you can say this is a nice place to live if you don't own a vehicle or have a life outside your home.
