Terrible

Do not consider renting at Big Creek Apartments. My experience has been marred by consistent safety concerns, property damage, and a general lack of management responsiveness.

Safety Concerns:

Multiple vehicle vandalisms: My car, along with others, has been damaged, with documented police reports for both hit-and-runs and deliberate keying incidents.
Security Breaches: Unidentified individuals have gained access to the building and attempted to solicit personal information, including Social...
Security numbers and phone numbers.
Unruly Behavior: The presence of unsupervised children creating hazards by breaking bottles on the grounds, and rampant dog waste left behind by inconsiderate pet owners adds to the overall feeling of a neglected environment.
Insufficient Security Measures: The sole security camera appears to be stationed solely at the trash compactor, demonstrating a lack of commitment to resident safety throughout the property.
Management Issues:

Unresponsive Staff: Despite repeated attempts to address these concerns with management, no significant action has been taken to improve security, enforce community guidelines, or hold violators accountable.
Financial Disappointment:

The significant cost of rent for this apartment complex is wholly unjustifiable given the substandard living conditions and lack of security measures.

Recommendation:

There are far better housing options available. Prospective renters are strongly advised to look elsewhere for a safe and well-maintained living environment.

Property Manager at Big Creek Apartments and Townhouses responded to this review

We are very sorry to hear of your displeasure, we always try to assist in any way possible. We truly work so hard to ensure that we offer an exceptional living experience for our residents.

We understand you came into our office yesterday very upset...
because your car had been hit. As we advised you, issues of this nature must be reported to police – we are so disappointed that your car sustained damage but we have great faith in our police department.

We had to ask you to please refrain from raising your voice. We ask that all residents treat our team members respectfully, and we do not condone slamming our office doors – this is dangerous as the glass could be shattered.

We don’t have anything in your record regarding any issues except yesterday, we are unable to address issues if they are not brought to our attention so we are kindly asking that you contact us with additional information. We are looking into the claims in your review, but please know we always follow up with lease violations when someone doesn’t follow our policies. This includes pet waste, unruly guests or occupants that violate our lease agreement, etc. We also advise any solicitors that soliciting is strictly prohibited at our community, although we do not have many cases of this. If you have information of anyone attempting to solicit personal information, please contact the police department – we do not have a report of this nature from you so we are unsure what occurred but we want to have it addressed immediately by local authorities.

We hate to hear that any resident is displeased with any aspect of our community, and we want to assist. If you have additional information you can provide regarding your claims it would be extremely helpful, and we always advise that authorities should be involved. We are so disheartened to read your comments because we take great pride in our community and truly value our residents.

bad management

They refused to refund the 70 dollars application fee, and they already had an issue with my scholarship sponsor. they should have informed me that they don't accept my proof of income before letting me pay for the application.

The grounds are beautiful but beware

I have lived here for some time and will be leasing an apartment somewhere else in the next month or two. The manager is condescending, unhelpful, and rude. Constant turn over of maintenance and front office staff. The manager seems impossible to work with. I would not recommend this apartment. Fluctuating water bills, lots of hidden costs. Maintenance in the unit is poor at best. It's not a surprise that no one stays here long.

GREAT SIZE APARTMENTS - BUT LOT OF UNKNOW COSTS

We are resident of this community for the past 5 years. These are great sized apartments, however other than size there is nothing positive to say. The water bill is a main concern in this community, I must say you need to have special skill to understand the water billing system. since I have been staying in this community for 5 years, I can see the difference our water bill started at 50 dollars a month and now we are paying close to 200 dollars a month and that too they don't have a billing... cycle randomly they bill is recently I got 350 dollars bill for 45 days. the fully part is the management will decide your water usage they say average per person is 40 - 50 dollars etc. The truth is they also don't understand the problem.. the real for couple of months ( 2 months) we ll be out on vacation, even then you get the same water bill , how that can happen? when the suite is closed for 2 months, who is using water? I have lot of friends around here. some pay 5 dollars a month and some pay 400 dollars a month. Anther fun is the recent bill of 331.5 USD I noticed on June 1st week itself, however the bill was not generated, when it was generated, the office people says the reading was taken till 06/22 . how did the meter got to know my usage for 06/01 - 06/22 ahead and calculated the amount ? isn't it funny? they generated the monthly bill on 07/10 and the due date will be 07/10.. less than 24 hrs.

The worst part if office management says they don't know about the bill because it is coming from guardian water & power, but guardian water & power ask us to talk to apartment office. End of the day they make us as a joker. Some time I keep paying the bill because talking to these people and listening to their make up stories is pain-full.

This is real story, still want to move in to this community, please be prepared for this.

Great temporarily, but not a good long-term option

I have lived here nearly 3 years and am planning to move. Some of the neighbors are definitely racist and unfortunately can't be avoided, but many of the neighbors are nice and just do their own thing. There is one trash compactor and it overflows at least once a week and then all across the complex people pile their trash outside of it until it looks like a trash bonfire. They definitely need at least one more on the other side of the complex, but I also feel bad for maintenance because they... really shouldn't have to literally shovel people's trash. Sometimes the compatir isn't even full, but people STILL leave their trash outside of it, like whyy??? The leasing office can definitely be unresponsive or slow to respond about most things. It usually hasn't been a problem for me since I generally haven't needed them, but the couple of times I reached out about something quite serious the response I received was the manager would get back to me. She didn't after about 2 weeks, l followed up and received a brief response that did not address the issue. The issue is ongoing and so I'm looking forward to moving. Plus, when I moved in I noticed issues with the apartment that weren't big deals, but I thought should have been addressed but never were (screens with holes in them, peeling paint/signs of a leak in the shower, very low pressure/non-existent stream to get hot water in the kitchen- all never resolved) but other, more emergency issues were handled quickly which I appreciate. The location is good for reaching stores, freeways, and just about anywhere in under 30 minutes. Nature surrounds us here and I will miss walking right to the woods. I haven't had bad experiences with maintenance the handful of times they've had to come. The first month we moved in, the response time was abysmal but then they transitioned to a new ticket after that it was really fast. My only critique is they should wear shoe covers. The apartments are carpeted and you aren't allowed to leave shoes in the hall. Also, all the critiques of the snow plow and salting are so accurate. I've fallen more than once in the parking lot, because it's a sheet of ice a week after a blizzard.
Insulation is terrible- drafty windows and doors. You can also hear. EVERYTHING in the hallway in your living room and everything from outside in the bedrooms. Like a radio that can't be turned off. All of this makes the complex not too family friendly.

Hello, we appreciate your feedback and understand your frustrations. We wish we could identify you from this review so that we could have the chance to reach out personally and address each of your concerns. We are very sorry if you encountered any... unpleasant neighbor and please let us know of any situations which we can help. We apologize for any backup with the trash compactor and hope that our more frequent pickup will help alleviate this problem. You are correct, we do not allow shoes to be left in the hallways since it is a fire hazard. Due to covid, we are currently completing emergency only and essential requests but regularly review other requests we receive to see if they can be completed. Please contact our leasing office so we can address any issues you’re currently having, we want our residents to be happy!
