A place not to live in

Based on my personal experience living here:

Pros:

1. Good location. Manayunk is great.

Cons:

1. The apartments are small and do not have a lot of light (feel dingy)

2. Expensive apartments - you are paying for the location

3. There are rats in the building.

4. There is also rain water leakage in some apartments. Eventhough this is a high priority maintenance issue,
maintenance workers show up many times the next day.

5. Part of Main Street closes down regularly for festivals. So if...
you park at Canal House
then for those days you would have to find street parking (which you would have to really find with difficulty - may be even a mile away or more) so that you can get to places. There is no accomodation given for losing one day of assigned parking. You also still pay the same price.

6. People parking behind the building (Canal House parking lot) have to continuously deal with two restaurants -
one uses the lot to load and unload and the other uses Rector street for Valet parking. These can cause delays
while you are trying to get out of the parking lot (especially for work in the morning). Some of the restaurant
employees are rude and complaining to the leasing office won't help - they don't do anything - some times they even
lie that they have tackled the problem.

7. During heavy snow days Rector street can become unpassable. The road is not cleaned as other roads are
(especially because it is a cobbled stone road).

8. Since on Main Street - traffic can be bad (especially morning). If you are going west then you can be stuck on
Main Street for at least 20 minutes.

Great experience and flexible management!

The places are great and so is the staff. There were flexible with our lease and timing, helpful and timely when needed maintenance, and always available to help us when needed.

In terms of the places, the appliances are all brand new and great, and the layouts in the gatehouse are really spacious and fun for having guests. Right on main street near all of the shops, bars and restaurants too. A great, affordable place to live in Philadelphia!

Shout out to Ralph the maintenance man for being...
awesome!

Nice place poorly run

The units and building are nice but don't expect the leasing office or the management company to be responsive or helpful. The building is very old and their are a ton of issues that go either unaddressed or handled poorly. Very overpriced for how poorly things are handled.

Fine Living.

After standing outside the Canal House gates, and then seeing the "Now leasing" sign; I decided to google the Canal House. It's exterior presence made me curious on what was inside. I then found a beautiful article,via'aparments.com' of a villaged atmosphere of elegant living. A community of bachelor's and coupled living occupancy. It Was the exact format of a peacful, entertaining lucrative living. A community and business atmosphere, while offering the intimacy of a village; located near the... Manyunk/Philadelphia Line \ Manyunk/Norristown Line, two ways to travel to major trafficking cities. "Genious" I look forward to many comfortable years of claiming this to be my home. Possibly Decade's
