Loud, roach infestation

Tenants are extremely LOUD and inconsiderate. People are constantly blasting music all night long and early in the morning. Families of 10 jam themselves into 2 bedroom apartments above you and sound like they’re gonna break through the ceiling. All you hear is screaming, crying, running and stomping for HOURS on end. You will never sleep through the night peacefully.

By the end of our lease we were seeing a minimum of 3 roaches a day and I wish I was exaggerating. Mind you, my roommate and I...
are two extremely clean people. Sadly that didn’t matter because the entire complex is infested.

There is not a single security camera, code or lock anywhere, and there are tons of sketchy people around. My car got broken into a couple months into my lease. Car alarms go off all the time, because there’s strange men lurking in the parking lot, seeing if there’s anything in the cars they can steal.

These groups of men smoke and drink, then pee behind your car, in the bushes, or near the dumpster. They leave broken glass all over the parking lot and stare you down when you park, as if you’re the one trespassing.

There is also no parking ever! If you aren’t home by 5pm, every single spot is full. So you’ll have to park a mile away and get parking tickets. You’ll email them saying there are not enough parking spots (even though you pay for a parking pass) and they won’t care. This results in people parking in the fire lanes, on the sidewalks, and sometimes even directly behind your parked car blocking you in so you literally cannot leave. It’s insane that this is allowed and the complex doesn’t care to intervene.

The halls are filthy. There’s always food on the floor, empty beer cans on the steps, and dirt marks smeared on the walls. Door handles are foul, everytime you touch them there’s a texture or a substance on them. It always smells very unpleasant in the halls.

There’s mold in the bathrooms. In the summer, the rooms become actual saunas because the AC units do not work well. I had to buy an additional AC unit for my room.

People move out and dump their mattresses and all of their furniture behind the trash can, probably because there’s roaches in them. It takes months for the complex to get rid of it.

Overall an atrocious place I wouldn’t recommend to single person.

MOLD

You would not believe the amount of black mold from water intrusion. Doesn't matter how many times you notify them about an issue. They will never fix it. I get it... It's a bug business. It's all about money. But at a certain point you are putting people's health at risk, including children.

Paid $1255 for Vehicle Towed When I was out of the Country

My car (has a permit) was towed for 24 days without any notice while I was away in Africa, and no wifi or signal was accessible. I ended up paying $1255 for the impound fee. Of course no reimbursement.

No mention of the contract and the suggestions I made.

When the lease was signed, I was told I can park in the parking lot as long as I have the registered parking permit.

First of all, I do not see any terms mentioned on the lease for the car being towed other than without permit, which I...
believe my parking permit is still valid. Therefore, I believe the road construction part was not in the lease and out of my consent.

Secondly, I was never notified by the time I leave the country, which was in the beginning of May. The road painting plan was too sudden and lacks of plan.

Thirdly, I understand that the Email was sent prior to the road construction in the apartment complex; however, on my end, the Email was never received because no wifi was accessible. If the Email is received at any point, my vehicle will never had stayed in the impound for 24 DAYS.

I believe a more appropriate way to do it is to simply make a PHONE call or simply move my car to a safe place instead of calling a towing company because someone has to make the phone call. With same amount of time, that person would call the towing company instead of calling the resident, and the resident experience a traumatic loss because of this simple action.

At last, no actions were made after calling the towing company; as a result, I have to pay $45 per day for my car’s storage. All I receive is an Email of confirmation said the Email was sent, and it is also the Email I have never received when I was out of the country.

We understand your frustration about this situation and we are trying to be accommodating as possible to our residents . However, part CC of the rules and regulations addendum to your signed lease agreement states "To notify Landlord if the Tenant... intends to be away from their apartment for an extended period of time;" If we were notified of your trip to Africa days we would have let you know much sooner about any changes to the community and this whole situation could have been avoided. We apologize for any inconveniences we may have caused and if you would like to speak further about this please email feedback@rentberger.com. Have a great day!

Communities of Audubon/Audubon manor

If you want to live within walking distance to town for a fair price Audubon Manor is a good find. It isn't the newest building, but again you'd pay a MINIMUM $200 more for a more updated 2 BR anywhere in town- Parking gets full sometimes (if you're coming home super late) but there is street parking nearby so it's never been that inconvenient. The staff are great (maintenance, leasing consultants, etc) - after a year I'm moving to a sister complex -Audubon Pointe- because they allow dogs - my... current building only allows cats- Laura and Sommer have made the transfer so easy- they're really great. Also utilities are pretty good and you only cover electric (cable but that's preference) Audubon manor is a fair place if you're on a budget.
-If you're willing to pay more I'd definitely suggest Audubon Point.
