Three years ago I moved out of this nightmare after a year's lease. No one who wants a mold, water damage, or fire hazard free apartment should rent here. The problems literally started the moment we walked into the apartment when we heard the carbon monoxide alarm go off. No one was at the office to take our call and after calling the emergency maintenance line it took a half hour for someone to get back to us just to tell us it was a bad battery and nothing to worry about. Two days later it... was replaced, still went off. We were told it was a bad detector. My roommate and I bought our own detectors and they likely saved our lives; they showed carbon monoxide levels were above OSHA hazard standards. Someone finally came out, continually asked us if there was a fire in the furnace room (do they not inspect these apartments before renting them out???), and replaced the entire furnance... Which would lead to problems in the summer when we found out they never hooked up the condensation pipes from the above apartments and our furnace to the outside, resulting in our furnace room and the attached living room flooding TWICE before it was "permanently" fixed by digging a ditch ourside our apartment.
We had numerous other bad experiences with maintenance throughout the year. Sparking electrical switches that took multiple visits to fix (the last one actually being from a trained professional), bad faucets and handles that were never fixed, mold and water damage that wasn't investigated even half a year after they were reported, and half the time Maintenance never left slips so we could never tell when they came or what they did. Their 24/7 emergency call center is a joke. Out of roughly six tickets we placed, twice they never actually submitted tickets and and the third time it took a half hour for someone to get back to us. When confronted with these issues, management told us we should have called the main office. Additionally, the 2 washers and 2 dryers servicing our entire building of 12 apartments have been malfunctioning for the past 6 months and no longer take a normal debit card. We were told a month in they would be fixed "soon". They were still broken on the day we moved out.

Terrible place to live
Maintenance department is terrible. Emergency line will take 30 minutes to place a ticket to a tech, if they even bother to place a ticket at all. Office staff is all smiles and apologies when there's problems but make no efforts to keep any promises. The buildings are run down, they have problems with their smoke detectors working, and only help out residents with problems when there's threat of taking action like calling the fire marshal.

Untrustworthy
While I am not a tenant myself, my fiance is, so I am in his apartment and around the complex quite frequently. I have personally had to endure quite a few very unpleasant situations while being here. The two most recent were by far the most upsetting.
About two weeks ago there was a knock on the door while I was in the living room doing some cleaning. I opened the door to find a maintenance man standing there, facing down the hallway and not even looking at me. He proceeded to throw a letter... at me as he was walking away and said nothing other than "Here, take this." My fiance wrote to management about the situation and rude behavior and they excused his actions entirely.
Yesterday, I experienced something far more distressing. Again, I was in the living room area when there was a knock on the door, only this time the door was almost instantly opened by a man stating 'maintenance'. Unfortunately, for me, I was not fully clothed at the time. I quickly covered myself as best I could while fleeing the room and yelling for him not to come in because I was not dressed. The man said "Okay, thank you" and closed the door slightly but still stood there. I went and dressed and returned to the door to see what was going on. I was greeted by the same man who had thrown that letter at me a couple weeks earlier. He began chuckling and said "I always knock and then open the door to say 'maintenance'. It's okay though, I don't look." He then told me he was just there to say the water had been turned back on and then he left.
This was not a matter of emergency. He did not need to, nor ask to, be let into the apartment after I answered the door to perform any maintenance. There was absolutely no reason to so quickly barge into a tenants apartment.
I don't know how to properly put into words not only the embarrassment this has caused me, but also how violated I feel after such an invasion of privacy. I would highly suggest to any fellow women, anyone with children, or anyone who simply enjoys having privacy in their own residence to look elsewhere for a place to call home.

Paper thin walls
The walls here are very thin and all kitchens and restrooms are built beside each other so you will hear all your neighbors very clearly here.
