I decided to go into the office in February and fill out an application unfortunately there were not any available units at the time. I was ushered to fill out what I believed to be a wait list card and my name would be placed on said list. I waited a month and called back in March like the lady had advised me to do and was told there were no units available but I could feel free to call back the first week of April and see if there were any units open then. So I waited another month and called... in April and was told that I clearly had filled out the card and that there wasn’t anything open at the moment and that I could call back the first week of May or I could come to the office and speak with Debra. I took the money for an application fee and security deposit with me to the office and waited to speak with Debra the first week of May Upon speaking with her she could not find my card (come to find out these are INTREST CARDS NOT! WAIT LIST CARDS.) I was told that there were not any 2-3br open at the moment, she then proceeded to explain their process for housing and how it works. I (myself) would have to fill out an application for housing and pay the $25 application fee, consisting of a background check and credit check, along with a $250 NON-REFUNDABLE security deposit to hold the apartment pending application approval. Then she asks me what my credit score is (its below a 600), she then asks if I have any debt to which I reply yes I have medical debt. She then asks me how much it is and how long its been in collections, (non of which has anything to do with housing in the state of Tennessee) she proceeds to tell me that based of what ive told her with my credit I would be required to pay first and last months rent upfront before being able to move in (one month is $585). my boyfriend (father of the child) and I would be moving in together I was informed he would have to pay an application fee as well (understandable) then I was informed that because we are not married he too would have to pay an additional security deposit ($250) before he would be allowed to move in with me and our daughter. If you have been keeping a total thats $1,720 they were asking for out of pocket before we could ever move in I only see one problem with the amount I was told to pay since we would be living together why would we pay 2 security deposits when its only one apartment and the reasoning behind the double deposit be because we are not married

Not what it used to be

I've lived at Park Crest 3 different times. The first time after I sold my house, I lived in the 100 building, upstairs in a 1 br. I loved it. Then it was quite and the grounds were kept clean and neat. After 2 years, I bought another house in Etowah and lived there 4 years before it burned, caused by old wiring. I moved back to park crest in a 1 br upstairs apt. It was still quiet and peaceful but had a lot of people moved in from Katrina. It had begun to seem more like projects. I lived here... for 2 to 3 yrs then moved to Cleveland to take a Photography job. After 5 yrs my Morher passed away and I moved back to Park Crest for the 3rd time in a studio apt downstairs. Big mistake!!! The apartment is old and musty. Black mold grows in the shower and around the windows and doors. The appliances barely work and the fridge has rusted and is a big eye sore. The noise from the young girl who lives above me is, somtimes unbearable. Glad that I've found a house to buy and move. If youre looking for quiet luxury apt, as this one is advertised...dont come here. You will be greatly disappointed. Goverment housing is better.

Cozy

This two bedroom apartment is not bad for rent. A quiet and peaceful little place with nice landscaping. The rent free would help greatly with me and my nelely married wife to getting started in life.
