Just being honest

I have lived in a lot of apartments in the tri cities, and Charleston Square is by far the worst. I lived here for over a year, and you can imagine that was by no choice of my own. The neighbors are loud and there are constantly police officers showing up to deal with residents. Management changed at least 4 times in the less than 2 years I lived here. If you're even a day a late on rent, even if you give the management notice and have been overall timely and respectful residents, you can...
expect a passive aggresive letter in your door threatening eviction. Within my first 5 months here my rent check was lost, and management accused me of lying about turning it in and threatened eviction, even though I could provide a money order receipt and could be seen dropping it off on camera. Laundry is on site but the machines were constantly in disrepair, overexpensive, or all taken up due to only having maybe 4 washers and 4 dryers for an entire complex of residents, not to mention the tenants that have gotten cat waste in the lint traps in the past. The maintenance guy was an absolute sweet heart but it was impossible to get anything done. Utilities could be cut off for an entire day due to issues while no one answered their phones or updated you on what's going on until hours after the deadlines they set. Rooms leaked and don't even get me started on the ants and roaches that we had issues with before, even though I am an incredibly clean person and keep a spotless home. Neighbors are nosey, loud, and disruptive, and management will only be friendly to you if you come off as aggressive. Communication was impossible and I had multiple pieces of paperwork that had been filed when I moved in, lost, due to the constant changes in management. Property was generally clean until my last few months here, when other tenants had started throwing food out their backdoors at night and into the lawn, as well as littering everywhere. Pets are not allowed but almost every tenant has a dog or let's the stray cats in and out of their homes. Have had property broken into on the premises. Stray animals always around. Would not recommend this place to my enemy.

Worst Experience

This place is over-priced for what they offer. There are no washer and dryer hookups in the apartments. They rent to many bad people who are disrespectful to other tenants. There is an issue with bedbugs in some apartments and management won't do a thing about it. Stay far away from this place.

Misleading

Let me just say, living here has been a decent experience; I can't really say many negative things. However, they have recently began "upgrading" units, so the wooden blinds, ceiling fans, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors are not in all units. If moving into a unit that hasn't been updated (which is probably a good chunk of the units because they WONT update units that are lived in), you will have to wait a decent amount of time until you are able to move in. Make sure to enjoy... all those things because they are people around who are still rocking carpet, white appliances, & no ceiling fans along with the good ole hand washing of dishes.

Save your money, sanity, and possessions! BEWARE.

People outside screaming at each other every single night. People allow their children to throw balls at cars, and run around all times of days and night. Make sure not to leave any valuables (even pocket change) in your car or people will be peeking in your car, and might even bust out a window to get to it. They allow people to park in fire lanes, on sidewalks, and basically anywhere they want. The ‘updates’ to the apartments are very cheaply done. You can see where they tried to just slap... paint over the peeling kitchen cabinets, and some of the drawers don’t work. Not to mention the giant pile of nasty, old furniture they keep piled by the entrance. No washer/dryer hookup is a cherry on top too. For the prices of these apartments you could live somewhere without screaming in the parking lot 5 nights a week. These would have potential if they screened the people they choose to lease to better. Management has decided none of this is their issue, and I hope anyone who is choosing a place to live - REALLY take this review into consideration because you will be miserable living here.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you feel like this but for management to address these issues you must report it to management. If you turned in a work order on the drawers not working we would write it up and have them fixed for you but you... have not. . All residents are screened before move in and when domestic disputes happen we get a notification from the police so that we can address them as they arise. When you see a disturbance we ask that you call the police so that I am made aware. We do not allow people to park on sidewalks, fire lanes etc. When we catch them we tag their vehicles and have them towed within the law amounted time. The furniture at the front of the property is 99 times not from us but the surrounding apartments. I personally have made people when I catch them put it back into their trucks and take it back over to their community across the street. I am confused at how you decided that "management has decided none of this is their issue". I have to be informed of these issues to take care of them and not on social sites. If you are having problems you are welcome to come into the office and make us aware so that we can address these. I want all my residents to feel comfortable in their home and my door is always open. All prospects are informed that our homes don't have a washer and dryer connection prior to move in. By Fair Hosing laws I am not allowed to tell anyone that they cannot be in the parking lots. If you are having an issue please inform their parents and if that does not help come to me and I will do my best to help within the guidelines of the law.
