Best value in Denton

I've heard a misleading expression in my hunt for the perfect home, it goes: "A good apartment ain't cheap, and a cheap apartment ain't good." But y'all, I literally cannot stress enough how much of a STEAL these apartments are. Sure, they may be slightly vintage, but any typical college student would feel privileged to live in such nice apartments on such a tight budget. I absolutely love living here and have even made close friendships with those who look out for the residents in the office. I... would 1000% recommend Denton Student Apartments to a friend, and I have!

Okay for Student Living

I recently moved out of University Place after living there for a year.

Pros- My unit was newly renovated with laminate flooring, stove, fridge and counter top. It was also a 10 minute walk to UNT campus so I never needed to drive or take the bus. Management was fantastic about helping me get an emergency transfer to a different unit early in my lease. Maintenance was very helpful and always appeared within 24 hours of submitting a request. Outside of a few roaches I saw here and there during...
the warmer months, I never had an issue with bugs.

Cons- AC/heat was distributed via a boiler controlled by the front office and only one was active at a time. This made for a miserable experience when a cold front would blow in before the heater was active, and vice versa. The A/C also went out a few times during the Summer. During showers the water temperature would fluctuate dramatically. I got cold water, near scalding hot water, and everything in between with every shower. The complex itself is located in a sketchy, run down area, with homeless people walking around it every so often. There some other minor inconveniences besides those.

My experience here was far from luxurious, but it's decent for a low budget student apartment. My complaints mainly stem from the complex itself just being so old, and that can't really be helped. I also wish this place came furnished, or at least included a cable/wifi bundle like other student apartments do (I lived at The Ridge prior to my lease here). That would justify the rent price a little better.

HORRIBLE

sure they're cheaper if you're a student but the actual quality of the apartments are trash and so is the Leasing office. Every complex they own has both kinds of roaches and some of them still use a broiler for the heater, meaning in the summer you cant decide to use the cool air unless the Leasing office switches the broiler to cool, which they wont fo unless it's been above like 85 for longer than 7 days or something. This place was awful and I hated it! Trash!

smells like mold

I lived in Across The Street last year and was told by neighbors they had major problems with roaches. I kept my unit SUPER clean so a roach sighting only occurred a 5-10 times. My biggest complaint was that it smelled like mold because the building was so old. The big beautiful trees out front are filled with hundreds of wasps and they’re not shy! It was super dope being able to walk to and from fry street, but the awful mold smell stuck to ALL of my belongings well after I had moved out. It’s... a great deal if you’re willing to sacrifice the luxury of a modern building.
