Building 4316

Buildings are old, on their website they only show pictures of one building but they have dozens, and you won't know which one you're moving to until you get shown the unit. In mine the paint job was clearly rushed and the doors got stuck when it was hot out. I had very old drafty windows, some wouldn't even open, I was told they'd be replaced in the coming spring but this didn't end up happening until fall, and when they replaced them they left debris EVERYWHERE. My apartment had two doors, one... of which had a lock that didn't work with my key which I told the office about multiple times and they never addressed, just told me to use the other door.

Kitchen appliances were new and worked well. In bathroom shower and sink were fine but I had constant issues with the toilet. The floor was weird fake wood and not tile so had to be very careful not to get it wet. I never had roach problems and they treated for roaches regularly but I did sometimes find dead ones. Also had persistent ant problem.

The laundry facilities are a joke. When I first moved here they were absolutely disgusting, flooded and dirty. They got cleaned up a bit after a couple weeks but still weren't great, there were always a couple machines out of order and they all smelled terrible. To pay I had to spend another $5 for a card that I have to go to the office to refill and could only put $20 on at a time which lasted a few weeks, very inconvenient.

Price not terrible for the city though for some reason having a cosigner meant my water bill was $10 extra (???) anyway I've since found cheaper and better apartments elsewhere. At the end of my lease they told me they'd be increasing my base rent by $40 next year which was the final straw that made me decide not to renew. Probably more manageable if you have roommates.

In conclusion: If you're okay with old buildings and the issues that come with them this could be the place for you, though overpriced and with many inconveniences. I will not be renting here again.

Bloom apartments 3505 Chamberlayne ave

Since I moved in October 1st there has been a series of issues from seeing roaches on the first day, missing window panes, broken screens, broken closet doors, leaky pipes, the shower not working properly, bugs in the bathroom and pantry, big yellow stain in the bathroom that I asked to have painted on the first day, leaky vent in bathroom. And now the biggest issue has arrived on the coldest day of the month. Gas leak which has prevented me from using hot water to take shower, heat up my home... during the freezing night and being able to cook dinner.

new management is great!!!!

Since new changes in June 2018 and under new management, many things have improved greatly. In keeping with cleanliness and safety they have a BIG plate of things but I recommend Chamberlayne Ave as a great residence because of the bus line and other conveniences....Mike McLean entertainer and more....

Messed up place

The Flats are being condemned based on neglect...tenants forced to find new homes...no real help from resources...crooked owners getting away with ruining lives.
