AVOID unless you're desperate!

A couple of days after signing a lease, I discovered the building is INFESTED with cockroaches. Like I see 30+ cockroaches a day in my apartment!!! Beyond that the fire alarm is perpetually going off at all hours, people are screaming all hours, strangers are banging on my door at all hours of the night, living here is unbearable. I'm counting down the days until my lease is up.

The building is also centrally heated which ends up meaning your place is 80+ degrees all the time - for me having...
an autoimmune issue that makes me ill when it's hot this becomes really awful. To cool down you have to open up windows that open in such a way it's impossible to put in an air conditioning vent.

I could go on an on and on about how miserable this place is - oh, the laundry room is shut down often for weeks at a time - I have to travel an hour on the bus to go do my laundry.

So don't believe their deals- this place sucks. Do yourself a favor and pay $200 more a month for a decent place.

Bait and switch advertising

The advertised rent is vastly different than the rent they put in the application. Nearly $300 more in most cases.

DO NOT MOVE HERE

I have been stuck in a lease for a year and have been harassed by tenants, the fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night at least one time a week. There are transients in the lobby at night and garbage in the hallways. The walls are paper thin and you will have your apartment smelling like marijuana and cigarette smoke all the time from neighbors.

Mistake

I just got a bill for $978 indicating that my security deposit was toilet paper for them, saying I not only owe for cleaning and paint, but for an entire month (June 2019) beyond my lease for which I am not responsible. Their reasoning for me owing? It was a penalty because I "did not provide proper notic [sic]" for a month I am not responsible for owing. Section 2 of the lease agreement states verbatim: "This agreement will be for a period of 1 year, with the initial term commencing on June 1,... 2018 and expiring at 11:59 P.M. on May 31, 2019 ("Initial Term"), unless sooner terminated as provided in this Agreement or as allowed by applicable law. Residents acknowledge that, upon expiration of the Initial Term, this Agreement shall terminate, unless twenty (20) or more prior to the expiration date of the Initial Term, the parties agree otherwise in writing." These illiterate degenerates lied to me, insisting that the lease "automatically renews as month-to-month." 1. I emptied and cleaned the apartment and was able to catch a flight at 6:00 PM on May 31st. The flight was scheduled to leave almost 6 hours before the Initial Term expired, and I was indeed on that plane. 2. I did not provide anything in writing 20 days before the expiration of the Initial Term because I did not have to. The Initial Term was going to expire irrespective of me saying or doing anything. 3. Before that, let's actually take a closer look: 20 or more what? There is nothing stated. I literally typed it verbatim from the lease and checked it numerous times. There is nothing. "Unless twenty (20) or more prior to the expiration." 4. The word "unless" is a conjunction, and is defined by Webster as "except on the condition that : under any other circumstance than." IE, when it ends, it ends. They flat out lied. 5. "If this Agreement is renewed as a month-to-month tenancy..." It was not. They did not even extend an offer to me to renew my lease. I was given no notice, and basically felt forced to move out on exactly that.

Pretty nice property manager guy

I called asking about the income restriction, so you have to make less than 44,000 which is totally different from income restrictions in Florida where you have to make more than a certain number. It's quite amazing. I'm mostly interested in the place cause it has an art and music studio which will be helpful in my endeavors, besides that it's pretty jaw dropping from the pictures. The property manager called me back pretty a few minutes after I called randomly at 9 p.m. in Florida, (6p.m. in... seattle), which I didn't expect. So these guys are pretty nice people. Can't wait to move.
