Please live anywhere else

Please live anywhere else. The alarm system issue is still happening. The fire alarm system will go off at random times ( usually in the middle of the night) You’ll find this in other reviews here. They haven’t fixed it. After more than 5 YEARS THEY HAVE NOT FIXED IT. I was woken up in the middle of the night again just yesterday to the shrieking fire alarm system. It’s in every bedroom and all throughout the building. The kids get sick of it pretty quick. This has happened multiple times in... the past 3 years I’ve been here ( I will not be staying another year) and they just don’t care about you. Why is the alarm going off so much? Because they haven’t fixed their crumbling infrastructure since they built this place. The building has a plumbing issue which causes your water to turn poop brown. Yes DARK BROWN COLORED WATER FROM YOUR FAUCET. This happens every time the fire alarm goes off ( and sometimes randomly ). Maintenance and the company know about it. They don’t care about you. Us residents suspect the pipes aren’t meeting spec and it triggers the alarms. Don’t even think about calling maintenance or the after hours number. Absolutely useless. Apart from this, the beautiful windows they are so proud of don’t open well anymore if at all and the outside facade is literally crumbling. I moved in here because I was in graduate school and needed a relatively cheap place to live. Wish I had read more reviews. You get what you pay for. I would scope out other places first. Save yourself some trouble . 10/18/2020

Beautiful place with a staff that goes above and beyond

We have lived here for a few years now, and absolutely love it. Beautiful apartments and a wonderful staff. One particular experience regarding a maintenance request prompted this review. Bob, one of the maintenance technicians, stopped by to help with our maintenance request regarding our microwave, as it stopped working suddenly. After troubleshooting the issue, Bob let us know that he would have to order a new microwave (if we wanted a new one vs replace that same day with one from a vacant... unit in our building), and we were completely okay with waiting for the window of time he mentioned. Before leaving, he told us to call if we happened upon any other things we may need help with.

Cut to the NEXT day, and Bob knocks on our door holding the brand new microwave box. He mentioned that he was going on vacation soon and wanted to make sure we got a new microwave before he left - so he drove to the ordering center to go pick up a new model for us at the end of his work day. Cue our jaws hitting the floor - we were blown away to say the least! He installed everything, showed us how to program the new functions (and how it was different from the old microwave), and asked if we had any more questions.

On top of that, Bob volunteered to help with any other issues we may have going on in the apartment while he was there. We didn't have any in mind immediately, but after thinking for a bit we came up with a few we'd put on the back burner. He fixed a wobbly foot on the back of our oven, placed a shim under our refrigerator to help the door stay closed, and gave us some really great ideas for other questions we had about our apartment. He was really great, and you could just tell he truly cared about helping us out with anything and everything.

We have cats, and they had knocked a few small toys (and money) under the oven drawer - one of us was home and Bob let us know as soon as he opened the oven drawer; he easily could have pocketed the money and we never would have known, but his choice to be honest was so truly appreciated. On top of that, he was really great with our cats (who can be a little too friendly / curious) and very respectful of our living space. To say we were impressed with Bob's attention to detail and exceptional service is an understatement of colossal proportions. Bob was a total total rockstar. Just one more reason we love living at Steve Brown Apartments!

Very nice building!

Rented one of the studios on ground floor. Loved the large kitchen and laminate flooring, because carpet in apartments can be gross. The two way fireplace was a nice bonus and a unique way to split living from bedroom area. Plus the in unit laundry, door side garbage collection, and free coffee were all great perks. The only downside was the noise from the garage could be heard sometimes and I had a neighbor who liked music with to much bass. Otherwise, if you can handle only having a patio... door to let outside light in, this was a great unit with lots of storage space that didn't feel like a studio.
