portola place

the apartment was ok but they do NOT return your deposit refund. They are supposed to refund your deposit within 21 days, its been 2 months. We've called and wrote. Do not live here. They are too cheap to return refunds.

Screwed, Blued and Tatooed

The apartments themselves are OK, but when you end your lease, be on the property when they do an assessment on cleaning charges and other costs. They'll rob you blind and then give you a cockamamie excuse as to why you're getting screwed. They are really unethical, but they didn't become a billion dollar corporation for nothing.

Loud family's love it here

Run far away, don't walk run away from this place. Apartments look great but walls are so thin theres no insulation and so much duct work in the empty walls. Unless your neighbor is an empty closet or better yet an empty unit you will be subject to a guessing game of what is that noise. Neighbors constantly have yelling matchs in their apartments. You are subject to none stop emf and noise pollution. Tenants must get use to being lulled to sleep by the sound of idoling trucks aka air... conditioning units which run near non stop outside bedroom Windows, hot night or cold night doesn't matter your neighbors air conditioners will be running.

The only possible way you would enjoy living here is if you are deaf, you have a loud family and find yelling, screaming, stomping comfort ing and you miss the noise of jet airplanes by the airport or the traffic of big city.

It is very rare to enjoy a quite moment in your apartment day or night. No floor is exempt you will hear your neighbors every kitchen or bathroom visit.

Rent anywhere else at these rates you can afford a mortgage.

Potential great apartments

The apartment on first viewing appear to be everything you could want. If you come visit at the right hours before 6pm parking looks ample and the complex seems quite. I'd encourage you to have another look at night. Than you will see parking is non existent. The carport are extremely narrow and difficult to park in once the lot fills. Most cars won't fit in the garages. What most people don't realize is every time they use their garage some poor neighbor or neighbors hears it go up and down and... everything in between. It starles people awake and shakes the apartments. I've been on all doors and it is audible even on the top floor.

The appliances are old and very very Loud. You will hear all your neighbors run laundry st any hour they choose. Some people seem to run a laundry service out of their house running it everyday. This may be in part to the many stay at home parents that are up at the crack of dawn. Never expect to sleep in and don't expect to get to bed early. Under every room with a view is no less than four air conditioners. Once those turn off if you are lucky, you just have to wait for everyone's washer or dryer to finish before its peaceful enough to sleep. The walls are thin so you must have good neighbors other wise any of their activities can be heard in your apartment. Your neighbor moving fishes in the cabinet will sound as if they are in your kitchen. You have surround sound of anything your neighbors do. It will take you a while to figure out what they noise is and where its coming from.

I have seen multiple reviews too late describing nearly everything I've experienced. The reviews are quickly removed or hidden. Traffic noise, emf, a constant hum in the air is the least of the noise issued. Most noise is from inside the apartments. The walls are hollow so if your neighbors like to chit chat you'll hear them. You'll hear cabinets, drawers, closet doors, patio doors, laundry doors and front doors. Most people let them slam. Others with children often get in fights and purposely slam them. Any noise complaint is treated as nuisance you will be told the loud noises you hear are normal apartment activity. If you have ever been in a non Irvine apartment you will know this is a blatant lie. Normal at portoloa place is loud and jolting. Very few apartment s are quite. The corner units tend to stay occupied while other apartments turn over quickly and sit empty for months.

Save yourself the stress move elsewhere.

A mediocre complex that had potential

I have lived in Portola Place for 5 years now in 3 different apartments. They have a small weight room and a pool with grills that do not fire up without your own fire. There is also a small fire place lounging area up stairs with elevator access only. They do have stairs but they lead to a private party room that must be unlocked. You will also have access to the surrounding pools with the same key. There are definitely good and bad apartment locations here. Depending on how much you care... about looking out your window directly into someone else's living room. At first it seamed like it wouldn't be a problem but it can get weird, like waking up to see your naked neighbor pull up his giant underwear. The larger homes also have bigger appliances, but their locations leave something to be desired. The 3rd and 1st floor patios have bars instead of a solid wall so there isn't much privacy except shutting your blinds. A new elementary school was just built right across the street so there will be crazy traffic during school hours. Recently there have been coyote problems so be wary of letting your outdoor cats outdoors. R.I.P. Whiskey River ?? Also on a side note the staff is constantly changing, so don't expect to get to know them. The online support has definitely improved. And rent must be paid online. It is kind of out of the way and you think it would be quieter but construction traffic is loud.
