How Is This Rating Determined?

Very nice student living

For student housing, this building really is top notch. The kitchens have updated appliances, the bathrooms are spacious, and the carpets are clean. The hallways have recently been redone and look clean. Plenty of laundry machines on site, as well as a lovely little courtyard for taking breaks between those long hours of studying. Gated bike parking as well. What more can you ask for?

Good enough

This apartment is run down. It took us over two months to get a dented, sharp piece of metal separating the linoleum from the carpet fixed. This, of course, was after we had already told them that our baby was in danger of getting cut on the metal strip.

Do even floors bother you? Then, don't worry, you're in luck! The floors here are uneven and slanted. And not just in my particular unit, but in the community spaces as well! It is entertaining to place my son's rolly toys on the ground and...
watch them travel down the slope.

On the bright side, it is next to USC's Greek Row, so during the school year there are hordes of young 20-somethings drunkenly staggering around all throughout the night. If they aren't running around, they at least stay indoors playing their music at full blast.

Do you mind clean and orderly trash areas and sidewalks? Not a problem here! Either the homeless people that go through the garbage, or just as likely bored drunken idiots, take the garbage out of the bins and throw it all around the sidewalk, and it never gets cleaned up. But it could be much worse. The property next to ours is way more run down, has parties constantly, and is trashed to the point that I think that if you even step on the property you will get MRSA or some other infection.
