I don't know how this still has a 5 star rating. Complete joke
Immenites: Spa (closed for construction, also just a hot tub) Pool (closed for construction, also no lights) Bike Storage (not done/open) Walking/Biking Trails (in Santa Cruz, not actually part of the complex) Gameroom (what? Where?)
Avoid at all costs! Lies at every turn. Constant construction. Construction workers walking into occupied units without warning. Rapid management changes because of complete incompatance. Increases in rent with no actual quality changes or reason.
Oh and the best... part, they advertise that's a great deal for students because that they should just fit 5 people into a two bedroom

Construction issues
So who here likes waking up to construction at 8am? What about worker going and peering in through your window as well? Okay, what about drilling a hole and getting dust all throughout your living room?
All these and more can be yours if you live at the hilltop today! When you move in they might even give you some cash to give them a good rating!

Terrible place to live
If you ask anyone who's lived at Hilltop, they will tell you one thing: under no circumstances should you live here. They owe every unit in the apartment complex $250 because everyone had to temporarily relocate for a few days while their building was being fumigated. I've been waiting for over a month and the office workers promised to contact me when the check arrived, but it never did. Shortly after my building was fumigated, they gave me a notice that in two weeks, my building was undergoing... dry rot repairs for over a month. Their offer was essentially "you won't have to pay rent while you're gone, also we'll give you $500 Visa gift card for meals!" I also have not received this gift card.
There is constant construction work going on, since before I moved here. All day, every day. A construction worker entered my apartment without notice, which is illegal. Not to mention that multiple other tenants have reported this happening to them. Rent is way too expensive, laundry is expensive, and I constantly worry I'll come home one day to yet another notice that I will have to relocate. I'm trapped in the lease for a year but until then I will be spreading the word to not live here.

Extremely overpriced and unaccomidating
I lived at the Hilltop apartments before it was acquired and it had it's issues, but overall it was a nice place to live. Since the acquisition I've experienced weekly inconveniences with very little notice or consideration and management that has been evasive and unresponsive to an extent that I've never experienced with any other business. Not to mention the non-stop construction noise and steadily increasing rent.
