Terrible Management!

I am a former tenant and I had to break my lease within the first month of living there. I moved in, in August and left by Early September. The first day, the air conditioning was broken, the washer was broken, the toilet was broken, the patio lock was broken, and stove was not cleaned properly and when used the apartment would fill with smoke. The moment we walked in we noticed that floor hadn’t been cleaned. There were dead bugs and nails in the carpeted areas. The toilet took them 2 weeks to... fix after multiple complaints that it kept breaking. The maintenance guy (I think his name was Jorge) even told us not to put toilet paper down the toilet at one point. We had live somewhere else for two days because of the broken toilet. The worse part was how entitled the property manager (her name was Natalie) was whenever we had an issue and the fact that nothing got fixed until we badgered them about it. I am not sure if other tenants had this many issues, but the management is so horrible that even if the apartment was working fine, there was no way we could live there given the lack of care towards their tenants. And on top of all of this, prior to moving in we were told we would be given a second parking spot and that there is no waitlist. However, once we moved in, they said they had 11 people on the waitlist and someone had to move out before they could give us a spot. There is hardly any street parking so it was so difficult to manage everyday. And even after we finally moved out, we called to ask when we would get our security deposit back and the property manager wouldn’t pick up our calls so we had to block our number and call her. Save yourself the trouble and find another apartment if you can.

As of March 2023 I've taken over the role of Property Manager, my name is Stephanie & I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for the negative experience you had back in 2021. In my time here, I've proven myself to be responsive to all and I... promptly resolve maintenance requests to ensure we are providing our residents quality service and assistance throughout the duration of their tenancy.

Horrible Management

I am a current tenant at Terra at Tustin. I moved in when the property was called Vista del Rey. Just before 2018, the property was sold to PUR and is now managed by Pinnacle Living. Ever since the new management took over, I have received so many notices to enter my unit. On one occasion, I came home and found that contractors working for management had done work in my apartment, for which I didn’t receive notice for. They shut off the main power in my unit, which caused all my home... devices to lose power. Apparently when the power was turned back on, it caused my satellite DVR to malfunction. I lost all my recordings on that unit. Several weeks later, contractors came into my apartment again to switch out the toilet, faucet nozzle, and shower head for water saving ones. I tried to opt out of this, but was denied. The worst part was that the contractors took and threw out the shower head that I purchased.

The worst problem of all was when the management, installed a flood light in the courtyard, which is pointing directly at my apartment. The intense light comes into my living room and bedroom. For six months I have complained about the light and problems it was causing me, but management would not take the light down. All they would do is modify it – first by taking out one of the bulbs, then by putting a shield over it. Even with all these modifications, the maintenance worker still conceded that the light was still too bright. What made this situation even worse is that after my first complaint, management noticed I had a curtain that did not “conform” to their standards, and put a notice on my door that if I didn’t take it down, that they would enter my apartment the next day and do it themselves. The reason stated on the notice for entry was “To make necessary or agreed repairs.” Now the regulation blinds rattle in the wind which wakes me up at night. And because the bedrooms do not have A/C, I have to have my window open to keep the room cool.

Overall, ever since the new management took over, Terra at Tustin has become a nightmare place to live. So I will be leaving this place soon because it’s clear to me that management doesn’t care about the well being of their tenants. Don’t waste your time or money on the newly gentrified property that restricts how you should live and may not listen to the problems you may have.

Very Nice and Friendly Community

Since new management took over, they have been actively renovating the property and it's already miles nicer than it used to be. Being so close to the 5 and the 55 and not far from the 405, it is in a greatly convenient location. The gym has been updated with quality equipment and the pool is maintained and heated nicely (compared to the ice bath it was under last management). Property maintained very well and staff are friendly (especially the maintenance guy). Would definitely renew my lease... here if I didn't have to move away for work. Sad to be leaving.

Disaster

Vista del Rey was great, but once the new management took over the apartment complex has been in a downward spiral. We have cockroaches no matter how often/well we clean the apartment. It's nearly impossible to get ahold of the management team, via phone call or stopping into the office. Maintenance never comes same day and takes forever and ever to respond, so if you have a problem (like a toilet that runs nonstop) expect them to show up several days later at the quickest. The gates of this... "gated community" are always open, not sure why we even have them at this point. None of the gym equipment works and it's rarely ever cleaned. The laundry room constantly has problems and broken washers/dryers. New management really needs to pull it together or we're probably just moving out.

Management sucks

I've been at this location for 4 years. It was previously called "Vista Del Rey" and they had a great management team. They always responded quickly and the maintenance man even provided his number in case we had emergencies (we were once unable to turn off the running water to our bathtub and he came to the rescue).

It recently changed ownership and the place is now called "Terra at Tustin." They are the ABSOLUTE WORST at responding. I've requested some work orders three weeks ago and I have...
yet to hear from them. I previously had a major termite issue in our apartment back when it was called "Vista Del Rey" and I worry that the lack of response will be a serious issue in the future. Management is really poor and if this continues, I will definitely be moving out.
