My husband and I have lived in this little basement apartment for over two years now, it's the first apartment we've ever been in and when we first leased it, it was priced at $645 a month! That's amazing! Especially for two college students who go to school full time and work on school nights and weekends to make ends meet. However, this past May our rent was raised from $645 to $850. This caused a big strain, we were forced to work more hours, in turn cutting our honeymoon short so we could... return to work quicker. In June, we receive another notice that they are raising our rent from $850 to $975! That's $330 raise in two months. We talked to our landlord about the inflation rate and she was to get us down to $895 a month (including parking, not including utilities). Rent has now become a huge stress every single month, and we've had to cut back on a lot of other things because we need the money for it.
