Thinnest floors ever

The floors are so thin between apartments I can hear stomping nonstop from the family of 10 above me. And often are the days that they are playing their music. Just hours and hours of horns and terrible bass lines till you seriously consider eating a bullet. There was just no thought or effort put in to the comfort and privacy of not hearing everything going on from the people living above you.

Beautiful but not peaceful

The people are very nice! The apartments are ok. But the rules are not enforced people sped though the parking lot. Our neighbors smoke and it goes right in our apartment. Its very shaded and pretty. But to keep it up the ground crew and gardner's are here about 3 days a week and are loud and annoying. Like using a blower for two three hours straight. I would recommend them but I'd really like to see tbe people that live here valued as much as the people they are trying to get to live here.

Property Manager at Commons at Creekside Apartments responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about our community! We strive to ensure all of our residents are comfortable in their homes, and we do value each individual who lives here. We definitely want to make sure everyone is following the... lease agreement, please send an email or swing by the office so we can talk more about the people speeding and the neighbors smoking. As for the leaf blowers, they are scheduled to be here to clean up after any fallen debris such as leaves, branches, dirt, etc. to maintain our park like setting. We are happy to hear that you would recommend our community, and we hope that you are able to feel as valued as you are. We look forward to speaking with you soon. - Kaci Shaul, Property Manager

We compare this place to our honeymoon resort

So, I have lived in a lot of apartments. And The Commons is BY FAR the best I have ever lived at. The atmosphere of the grounds is amazing. My husband and I often compared it to the resort we honeymooned in. Walking to the hot tub in our swim suits while hearing the wildlife and the peaceful tranquility was hands down the best part of living there. My kids made so many great friends in the complex, and LOVED that the office was always more then happy to give them treats every time they stopped... in. I loved taking my pets out for walks here, and they loved the forest that surrounded our building. There was always ample parking, and the staff was quick to show up for any calls and concerns. My husband loved that after two run ins with our washer, they simply replaced it with a brand new one!
Now we just moved out a few weeks ago, and have not seen our "move out" bill. But, I've lived in apartments before, and I know the whole carpet replacement speal. So I am realistic as to my expectations of the costs. I'm hoping they take the better path and don't charge me for a full replacement. But I did spill bleach in the hallway. So I budgeted for it. All in all I say LIVE HERE!! All apartments these days charge what they can for move outs, if you have to pay it, the living here is by far superior to most. And the manager lady is like the sweetest thing ever. Seriously.

Warning of the carpet scam

Just a note of the carpet scam.

April 2014 moved in - July 2015 moved out (bought house)

The carpet they claim is a 10 year carpet. I was charged for the pro-rated remaining life of the carpet (we have a cat and 2 kids, I understand there will be more stains than some). The calculation assumes that you owe portion of the carpet remaining on its life. The carpet was installed 5 years prior to me moving in.

All my research online claims that most rental carpet is expected to last 5 years. I...
even contacted the company that sold Commons the carpet, and they were unwilling to back up that the carpet is a "10 year carpet".

So, the best you can do, should you choose to live here (the staff is incompetent, unhelpful, and treats you like a wallet with legs; the pool has grime along the walls all summer; there are scams with fake parking tickets, homeless people scouring the trash every day; rent increases huge amounts annually for no good reason) is:

a) on move-in, do the walk-through and liberally note all things wrong, especially the carpet;
b) take pictures of any shade or stain, and get something IN WRITING from the staff that the carpet is the condition it is; KEEP A COPY of your walk-through; NOTE your deposit amount; KEEP your rental agreement printout
c) if you do cause some stains, you should try a cheap cleaner to hide the stains for the walkthrough (remember, the management does not care about the carpet, they just are looking to jump on someone to pay for the "10 year carpet"); if you can't hide the stains, you need to be very careful in the final walkthrough to do the following:
d) on the walkthrough, make sure to take your own photos of all stains (they take photos but can hide them from you);

I did most of this, but once they pulled out the "10 year carpet" lie, it was too costly in time and effort to pursue this to small claims. A lawyer told me that if you don't do the walkthroughs precisely and keep all records, apartments can scam you legally like this.

Good luck!

The Commons at Creekside

These apartments are in a great neighborhood with lots of parks around for kids. The apartments are set in a beautiful wooded area and are quiet. Amazingly maintained grounds and buildings. The apartments are a great size and have lots of storage. Bus stops and MAX lines are within walking distance. The walls are thick and you can't hear your neighbors!
