For over 15 years she has been a volunteer teacher of English to speakers of other languages, helping those far away from their native cultures adjust and feel at home in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Whenever she can, Roberta enjoys finding time for long day hikes, exploring rivers, cooking ethnic foods, reading and being with family and friends.
