New building marred by bad neighbors and questionable charges from property management
The building was new when I moved in, but eventually problems with inconsiderate neighbors started happening, like people partying up on the rooftop lounge until 4 am, which would wake me up in my top floor apartment.
It took quite a while for management to respond properly to the issue, and even after they did it still never really went away. Other problems were some extremely bad cooking smells from neighbors drifting into my unit from both the hallway and the sliding glass door to the... balcony, which was my only ventilation. Some times this would happen late at night and wake me up as well. I was willing to put up with this, but the last major problem that really upset me is that I've been charged a rather large cleaning fee upon vacating the unit. This is even though I left it perfectly clean, and went through great pains to keep everything like new while I lived there. I have never once in all of my rental history been charged a cleaning fee, as I am quite meticulous in my treatment and cleaning of the places that I've rented. Additionally, I also received a "final bill" from Minol, the company that handles their utilities. The bill amounted to more than double what a normal monthly bill would have been, even though the bills were already quite high, due to what I believe was the company Minol basically ripping off the tenants. I'm not sure why a company from Texas would be handling utility bills for residents in Washington State, but I guess that Spur gets some kind of benefit from the deal. This bill also came in well after my final statement that I paid the day after I moved out, so I have no idea what they are trying to charge me for.
Finally, I've tried to reach out to the property manager several times to discuss my security deposit, which they still haven't returned, but I'm basically being ghosted by them at this point. They never reached out to me, and they also never forwarded those last "bills" that I mentioned. These are now listed as "past due" and the only way I found out about them was by going to the old rent payment app to see if there was info about my security deposit. I never received a paper statement in the mail to my forwarding address. As I have decent credit, I'm now worried that the property manager's handling of the situation will hurt my credit score, which is the worst part of the whole situation at this point.
For the high rent they charge, I'd avoid Spur. There's definitely better options in that price range.
